The wife and I pull into the parking lot at 10:58am-- We notice they open at 11:00am on Sundays. That's not a problem. We see employees walking in and out of the building and never see the "Open" sign turn on. Finally, at 11:08, I poke my head inside and ask if they're open. A surprised employee simply states "Yes". I wave the wife out of the car and taking my queue, two other cars' doors open, full of other confused patrons, waiting for a signal to enter. There is a countertop with a sign stating "Order Here", but the same surprised employee simply points at a table for us to seat ourselves at. Confused, we sit and watch as the others tables that came in after us are given chips and salsa... We keep our mouths shut and give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Three separate, crumples pieces of paper are dropped on our table, the menus, without any further explanation. A young woman appears and puts a basket of chips on the table, then a bottle of salsa... a few minutes later, a bowl for the salsa is given. We are then asked for our drink order. I ask for a pineapple Jarritos and am told they have none. Not a problem. I then ask for a Coca Cola. Moments later, a lime Jarritos is placed on our table and before I can say a word, the young woman rushes away. The woman and confused gentleman are struggling with the soda fountain for some time before the wife asks if we should just pay for these drinks and leave. I agree and wait. The woman eventually comes back with a Coke and I quietly ask that we just pay for what we've already been given and just leave-- it's just not working out. She doesn't know English (which is fine, we all have to make ends meet) but in her waving over the confused man, attention is drawn from the other patrons is now drawn to us. I explain to him what I explained to the lady... He doesn't speak English, either. Luckily, my wife speaks fluent Spanish and we repeat our request a third time. The man disappears and we're left sitting there awkwardly, getting looks from the other patrons. He comes back after a few moments and I offer him my debit card. He declines and tells my wife that we're free to go. I've heard that the food is good at Taqueria Cachanilla, but it will be some time before I muster the nerve to go back. I can understand not quite being on one's game when opening for business for the day but a series of blunders and mistakes has left a bad taste in my wife...
Read moreSecond time visiting. First time tacos were tasty, brought the rest of the family back. Family of 5, auto-charged 15% gratuity. Ordered two small margaritas, brought us two large and said we ordered large. Kids meals are deep fried Sam’s Club fries and nuggets. My street tacos were pretty tasty but between the foul attitude of the server, not speaking clear enough English to keep messing up orders and then charging us for their mistakes, we won’t be back. Out of 5 tables with guests ours and another had their meals wrong, but server insisted she was correct…”No, I wrote down 2 large margaritas” and shows me on her pad of paper. The margaritas were all sweet and sour mix, worst I’ve had in Springfield. The tomatillo salsa in bottle that was brought out with chips, fermented and had to be thrown away and replaced. The replaced bottle was tasty, but food safety issue not having any expiration on home made salsas. It was also about 85 degrees in the restaurant, our kids drinks didn’t even have ice in them. Our total for 5, on taco...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would From the moment we walked in, we were ignored by the staff. No greeting, no acknowledgment – just completely overlooked. When we finally got someone’s attention and received our food, it was horrible. We took one bite and politely asked to speak to a manager.
Instead of handling the situation professionally, the server became aggressive and started yelling at us. Things escalated quickly when she ran to the back and brought out what appeared to be family members or friends, who proceeded to surround us and intimidate us until we paid.
We were just trying to leave when they actually followed us outside and attempted to start a physical altercation. It was completely uncalled for and honestly frightening.
This was hands-down the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. The behavior from the staff was beyond unacceptable. Save yourself the trouble and stay far away...
