I'm obsessed. My heart was aflutter walking into this disco dive bar in Midtown St. Louis. It's got that strong femme energy like out of the Barbie movie. I went on a Wednesday around 8pm and there was a good group there and was 98% femme presenting folks which I don't see often at a bar. It felt safe and inclusive.
The decor is the coolest. There are hundreds of disco balls (2 giant ones that spin). You can order a gin bucket to share and it comes in a giant disco ball bowl. The art and vibe are awesome. And funny and witty. Instead of saying gender-less bathrooms, the bathroom said "Toilets - they know no gender" in awesome fonts. And the bathrooms are also aesthetic lol and each stall have pink neon signs with cool sayings. The bathrooms are spacious and seem wheelchair accessible. Also who knew I'd have so much to say about a bathroom?
There's an upstairs balcony lounge (no elevator, wide stairs) that's giving 70s sex den vibes. Super low, moody lighting, funky red patterned carpets and eclectic coffee tables and little candles.
There are many booths on the first floor, and bar seating, and a few high top tables. The bar is tiled with disco tiles. And the high table top area is covered in silver tinsel.
The cocktail menu is lovely. And they have a good range of non-alcoholic cocktails 👏 and several house-mase syrups.
And the music was awesome. They have touch tunes so you can select a song. I was writing down almost every song that played lol. I would love a hidden gems playlist.
And they have matchbooks!
And the bartenders were awesome.
I wish I could come...
Read moreCocktails were very fun and tasted great, and the whole bar was super cute with fun photo aesthetics. The atmosphere just was not it though. Maybe we were there a little too early, but it felt very stuffy and we were treated rudely by certain employees. I can usually relax and calm my anxiety after checking out the vibes, but I felt so uncomfortable and unwanted in this space the entire time I was there. Drinks were expensive but they were definitely worth it. Some of my friends’ drinks were a little too strong, but my drink was fine. After I cashed my card out (with super rude bartender, felt like I was inconveniencing them in every way possible) I noticed I was charged a random $32 fee for “restaurant - bar and café” that I did not sign for on the check, and was also very confused because there is no food at the bar. It was taken care of, but be sure to double check your statements. There was a food truck outside of the bar, which was very good. But the bar had a sign that said NO OUTSIDE FOOD, and we were not allowed back in with the food truck purchases. The website says differently. I was honestly pretty disappointed coming here, because I loved the meaning behind how the bar came to life and how safe and inclusive it was, but unfortunately it just did not feel that way at all. Being “open to everything and all” is great, but not if it comes with super...
Read moreBeen twice now for trivia nights and I wasn’t impressed the first time and the second time I’m just disappointed. I paid $13 for a small drink that tasted like cough syrup. They don’t have enough bartenders on staff (only 2-3) for these events so sometimes you are literally waiting 20-30 minutes for a drink. This is not the bartenders fault the owners need to staff up. The bathrooms are dimly lit (I assume on purpose) and if you turn on the flashlight on your phone the toilets are filthy - I’m talking pee all over and pubic hair. So gross! The only thing that redeems this place is their trivia is genuinely fun. But overall this place is very gimmicky, overpriced, and pretty gross. I’m not falling for it. The seating is also uncomfortable, cramped, and less than welcoming. As much as I enjoyed the trivia I don’t think I will be back. I go to trivia once a week at a dive bar which is 10x cheaper, cleaner, and has strong,...
