General Thoughts - Interesting place and fun atmosphere. Maybe my thoughts on the food/service were skewed by my thinking that it was basically just an ice cream bar with a few food options... Not a whole restaurant. That said, they claim to be rated the "best" at damn near everything, but their ice cream and service were only "best" at being mediocre... So, I don't feel bad only rating it a 3. Maybe the high ratings and praise (?) are generally meant for the food and ice cream martinis? Either way, not a place I'd reccomend... Specifics below. 👇
Food - My wife and I popped over for some dessert. We split a $10 "build your own sundae" bowl. It was 2 scoops + 2 toppings + whipped cream. It was a good portion, especially for 2 people who weren't super hungry and just wanted a quick snack. I'm accustomed to the price being a little cheaper for the same portion sizes, but it definitely wasn't bad! The ice cream, though? Bland. The Butter Pecan mostly tasted like vanilla aside from 1 bite where I got a little blast of flavor at the end. I think the Espresso Bean, while good, was just chocolate ice cream loaded with chocolate-covered espresso beans. I didn't get any bites without the beans,.. But my wife did, and that is what she thought. The tastiest part was the toasted marshmallow cream, but there was only like 2 tiny globs of it. The hot fudge was also good (is it ever bad?), but there wasn't much hot fudge to be found in the sundae either. Overall... It was an extra mediocre sundae that wasn't worth the price. You can find better ice cream/sundaes basically anywhere in the country for cheaper/with bigger portions.
Service - It was decently busy when we first arrived, but they had a lot of people working... And a lot of workers were just standing around doing nothing. That said, our server was super kind and appeared to be the only one staying busy for most of the time we were there. After we finished our ice cream, though, there were only a few customers left in the restaurant... But it still took 10 minutes just to get our check!
TL;DR - Fun atmosphere, but slow (lazy?) service with extra mediocre and expensive ice cream! In one...
Read moreVery disappointed. This used to be my favorite place to dine at in St Louis, and I was so excited to take my family this weekend during their visit. We had a larger party and I had called ahead on a Saturday (I’m aware they don’t take reservations) to ensure they could accommodate us. The host(ess) ensured us we would be fine as long as we called an hour ahead of arrival so they could get us on the wait list. The time rolled around and we did just that. We were told the wait would likely be an hour - that’s fine as we were warned. We drove ourselves in that direction and arrived early to let the restaurant know we were there, but not expecting to be seated until our table was ready. My husband went inside to ensure everything was fine and to check what the wait still was. We were then told a party of ten just arrived ahead of us and we would not be seated until they left, if at all. I was super flustered since I had just arranged for my family to all meet here, confident we would have a table within an hour. Long story short, we had to cancel plans with our extended family since we could only seat ourselves, since the hostess told us they were VERY busy and could only seat our party at two separate tables at different ends of the restaurant (uhh what?). It was too late at this point to find another restaurant. Once seated, the waiter was insanely condescending, and we sat there for an hour with several empty tables surrounding us (see pictures of empty tables). The service here is absolutely awful and clearly customer service is not their top priority. A long time favorite of mine has now turned to a core memory filled with disappointment. Unfortunately not likely to...
