I was excited to try this restaurant as Iām in search of great tacos is the STL area. Itās located in the food hall at the foundry and not a stand alone restaurant.
First impressions were šš¾ The guy at the counter looked like I was interrupting something more important to him. I asked if I could get the sauces on the side and he flatly explained that there are no modifications. I told him I didnāt want to chance there being something in the sauce that I couldnāt have. He blinked at me and stared so chance it I did.
We tried the pork tacos which werenāt bad but could have been done better. The come 2 to and order. The pork belly skin was not properly rendered and ate so sticky it stuck to my teeth. The portions were generous, the flavors were amazing, the meat had both tender and crispy qualities about it. The sauces they gave me each exploded with flavors... the Verde sauce they gave me was by a very long way the best Verde sauce I've ever had to date at any Mexican restaurant I've been to.
If I were to complain about something... it would be that it is pricey... my meal alone was $20 + tax... but the portions were large and I actually wasn't able to finish my plate.
I wish I would have taken pictures so I gave you all I got... what's left of my plate and the restaurant. LoL, sorry, I'll do...

I turned many heads as I walked to our table. I even had people come up to our table and ask which restaurant provided us our meal and they went directly to Sureste to order their own.
Besides being a wonderful chef, Alex is a wonderful person. We are excited to see him doing so well and look forward to the opening his...
