Today is Sunday. My family was celebrating my grandmother recovering from being ill she is 78 and we were able to finally get her up and out for a proper celebration! We had fond memories of this restaurant from years previous and wanted to dine once again! Big Mistake! We were not in the establishment 5 minutes before the manager was in our presence implying we had created an issue. We immediately felt unwelcome when walking in the door, but brushed it off and proceeded to our dining area. The “issue” being we (a family of 9) needed a table to dine. we had arrived in two separate cars . One had arrived before the other, a family member stated we needed a table for 9 they pushed together two tables and had a third table about 2 feet away for the remaining four family members. Now at this time nothing was said because we were under the impression that we could push the tables together once everyone had arrived because no one had said we could not. Once we (the second car) had arrived we were confused as to why we were all the way in the back secluded from all the other guest but let it go because we were happy to celebrate and be together. We then attempted to push the tables together and immediately the manager “graced” us with his presence and stated we could not do that because of store policy. We stated that we had asked for a table for 9 people and were told that it was okay then when first asked but now we are here being told we cannot sit together as a family. He stated that “its just the policy” A family member tried to reason with the manager in a calm tone and using a relative analogy such as “you eat dinner together with your family right” and the manager replied in a snooty tone “no! we go to separate rooms” We expressed that we did not like that we couldn’t sit together and left the establishment. We felt a vibe that could be described as discriminatory but i am not stating that is a fact just the impression the...
Read moreWe chose to eat at Raffertys because it was close to the hospital we had just been to and I’d always enjoyed the soup and salad. Our experience there tells me it will be the last.
Our server was fine. He was not the best and he was certainly not the worst. My friend ordered a Caesar salad with salmon on top and I ordered a house salad with a cup of potato soup.
I made sure to tell the server that I did not eat meat and I wanted no bacon on my salad , and I wanted a side of cheese for my salad and a side of sour cream for my soup.
I didn’t get either of those with my meal drop off, but the server did bring them to me after asking for it. My soup was fine. My salad was OK. Again, nothing to write home about. When I got to the bottom of my soup bowl. I was chewing it and realized I was chewing on a big bite of salmon.
Again, I do not eat meat so this was not something I would ever want to eat or hope to find in the bottom of a bowl of soup that should just have potatoes and not much else in it so I spit it out, put it on the side of my bread plate and when the server came by, I quietly let him know.
He said that shouldn’t happen, and I agreed. I didn’t ask for anything free and I didn’t even ask him to take it off the check. Although it did turn my stomach and I didn’t finish my food.
I just asked him to check for food contamination because somebody could get really sick from having fish when they’re allergic, etc.
We ordered a piece of cheesecake to split. Trying to make the most of a bad meal. The cheesecake was delicious.
We left a good tip, as it wasn’t the servers fault. That said I think we should have notified the manager because I’m not sure the server actually did check the soup pot. He really didn’t seem to care much at all.
Note to vegetarians: there’s not many choices for you here. No veggie burgers, no choice of 4 sides for $x etc. just soup and salad or salad only.
This will be our last time...
Read moreNot the old school Rafferty's I was used to having several years ago, and no wonder they closed the one down by Tinseltown Theater. This one isn't going to last long either, if someone doesn't start caring about quality and service over what was received when I was here. First person forgot about our drinks, which was at least addressed by our actual server. I ordered the chef salad and I asked to hold the croissant 🥐, due to the fact that I was abstaining from bread and lower carbs for the diet restrictions I was on, but they didn't remove it. My other party joining me for dinner ordered the hot fingers platter, which I thought sounded good to go for my other party at home. Neither hot fingers platter was worth the ticket 🎫. Almost $17 ( comes w/ one side, we both choose fries). Smaller than half of regular sized chicken tenders at most restaurants. Some weren't even breaded completely. My meat on the salad was not cut properly from the obvious circular pieces of processed lunch meat from a local grocery store type quality, and very large chunks too much to consume without the use of the steak knife that came with the silverware when seated. Server noticed that my other party was out of draft beer and asked if another would be required, to which it wasn't. I had to ask the server for a refill on my ice water before departure, due to the fact I wouldn't have been noticed without doing so. When our to go orders were ready, my order of French fries were absent and the server had to fetch them from the back. I will probably never visit this restaurant again. Lots of things changed and unfortunately not...
