Well it was such a great time with the family that I didn’t take any photos . Oops!
7 people which includes two kids enjoyed every dish that came to the table. I’ll list what we had off below.
Snacks:
GOAT CHEESE FONDUE Ooh the goat cheese was so creamy and delicious. Devoured!
BUTCHER BOARD : My husband and Dad loved it. They didn’t eat the carrots lol men. I think the fried balls were hush puppies and crunchy outside and soft inside with a little of the goat cheese yummy.
CHILE BBQ GLAZED DUCK WINGS: My mom and dad had. They came to the table and then were gone. So I would say a win!
Mains:
CHICKEN & WAFFLE : my mom had. She said the chicken was cooked well. Super tender. The texture of the waffles and flavor was good. The ship was really good.
PORK RIBS: Husband and Dad had this. it was a good portion size . They said it was tender and delicious. Seasoned well because when stuff isn’t my husband doesn’t send it back but he will coat it with sauce.
*BABY KALE & ROASTED CHICKEN: I had this. It was a beautiful presentation, it was light and flavorful. I just couldn’t stop eating it. The chicken was so tender and cut perfectly that I don’t even remember having to chew it (if that makes sense). I paired mine with the sourdough and goat cheese snack. I wanted some bread with it and I just loved the goat cheese lol.
Our Sides:
MAC & CHEESE W/ DUCK FAT-SOURDOUGH CRUMBS : Mixed reviews My 6 yo didn’t like it. My sister was indifferent about it. I thought the cheese selection was light and creamy. If there was some sea salt and white pepper at minimum or add an herb cooked into the sauce it hen it would’ve had a better flavor profile.
FIRE-ROASTED VEGGIES My sister had this. She said that they were cooked to a great consistency and the flavor was amazing.
For the kids:
CRISPY SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN FINGERS: 4 yo loved. my husband tasted the chicken. He said it was tender and had a good batter. The hand cut fries were cooked perfectly . The right crisp and soft inside with not a taste or drop of oil. Loved that! The broccoli was easily eaten and it was cooked perfectly.
TWO SILVER DOLLAR BURGERS: My 6 yo liked it. She would’ve probably preferred me getting her a full burger instead of the smaller ones. I noted that for next time. The meat was cooked well for her . She enjoyed the broccoli as well.
Freshly made lemonade was a hit with my kids and I . Others had alcoholic beverages.
DESSERTS:
I personally really enjoyed the whiskey from my tasting at friends birthday celebration. As a family we enjoyed the STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE.
I requested it to have everything on the side. In my opinion, It was the perfect portion size for a group of 6 to enjoy. We recently visited areas in Italy which inspired my plating of the dessert. Each individual received a cube of shortcake drizzled with the macerated strawberries (im not certain what they would call the sauce.) I gave with the sliced strawberries and a dollop of the whipped cream. This was just the right end portion to our meal. Now, that whipped cream. I’ve tried a few and I’m typically not a fan but that whipped cream!!!!!! I could eat it out the bowl and put it on any comparable dessert item or plain fruit. It wasn’t overly sweet and had the right amount of sweet flavor. it had the right thickness and airiness to it. If this was sold fresh daily. Sign me up.
Service: The hostesses, our waitress Debbie and I assume the front of the house manager were very pleasant . The attended to our group well in each aspect from entry to departing. Our waitress had a great personality and her service level was wonderful.
This was the first time for my entire family . Each one said that was a great...
Read moreWe visited before COVID19. I was excited to try out this place for the first time, but I am here to not recommend anyone going. I am all for people supporting the food industry however this restaurant and chain is not one I am suppporting. There are plenty of better options.
We visited on a Saturday around 11:00 am for brunch. It wasn’t too full so we were able to walk right in and get a table. The high tables lacked purse hooks along with the bar having no hooks, which for a woman I find difficult because there is no place for my purse. I am not going to put it on the back of my chair where I cannot see it. Limited number of tvs inside for people to sit and enjoy.
While there were people in the restaurant it was not packed so we placed our order for food and it took way longer than it should. Apparently the kitchen was not prepared especially since not only did it take too long for the food about 45 minutes or more to arrive the food that my dad originally wanted was no longer available. We were told it was sold out. At 11am on Saturday morning for a place that is suppose to be popular for being you are already out of an item? Clearly it was mismanaged.
For appetizers we ordered the thick cut candied bacon, which was awful. It was so riddled with fat and only received like 8 pieces which equated to about 3 pieces at most of meat. The dip and pickled vegetables was okay. We also ordered the bacon jalapeño drop biscuits for appetizer. That dish was not awful, but was only okay. At least we got a good portion out of that order.
I had ordered a drink to go with the food. I believe it was the little pink drink. Waitress never brought it over after our food finally arrived and I had to remind the waitress that I had placed a drink order. More time waiting before the drink arrived.
For the meal we ordered the three little pigs, farmhouse ham benedict, and chicken and cheese melt. The sliders had poor presentation on a little brick. It’s a waste because you can’t eat off the little brick and we had to ask for a plate. A couple other people at the time had ordered the same and from what I saw they did not bother with the brick and got a plate. The sliders themselves were average in taste, but the meat was cold like it had been sitting out. They could have at least put the food under a warmer if they wanted to bring the food out all at once. The melt was probably the best out of the three even then it was not something I could say was great. Lastly, the Benedict was okay or average. It was not something I loved or could rave about. The kale salad I had for the side was bad. There was no dressing at all so it was very dry. We will not be visiting this restaurant again.
At most the restaurant food quality is decent, but not great or delicious. The service...
Read moreI was not going to write this post but after my continuous sneeze attacks, I must. My cousins and I made a reservation at this location for last Sunday. We planned to eat outside but due to the temperature we changed it to inside. We got there and they did not have any seating inside and told us we had to eat outside. We were ok with it because it was an enclosed patio. They sat us right by the door where the wait staff comes in and out. We asked if we could have the little spot in the corner. They told us no because a huge party was coming and they needed the two tables together. Our waitress had many table and really struggled to keep up. We didn’t care at first because we were just catching up with each other. After 30 minutes out drink order was taken. We received that in about 20-30 minutes and ordered. She was knowledgeable and offered great suggestions. Our mouths were watering. They brought out food 30-40 minutes after that. One of my cousins received the wrong food and they needed to exchange it. Midway through our meal, a group brought a dog in right next to our table. Two of us have extreme pet allergies. After the hostess sat the guests down, we called her over and told her about our predicament. We were told they were a pet friendly place and were not going to move them. We asked for the manager. In the meantime we looked at the area where we asked to be seated initially and noted that the tables were separated and two ladies were sitting there eating their food. The chef Jesse, came out to our table and stated that this was a pet friendly atmosphere, the people had reservations and they were not going to ask them to move. He stated that he was not going to move us either. I was floored that they would treat dogs better than human beings. I’m sorry but I should not be subjected to eating pet dander in my food. My cousins food finally came. The drinks were amazing, the food was outstanding but the service was absolutely horrific. If you like eating with your pets and finding it hard to locate a decent place that is pet friendly, this is the restaurant for you. If you have a pet allergy, stay away. Houston has many restaurants that allow...
