Capriccio Kitchen & Bar — Restaurant in Stamford

I am just sorry we didn't take photos to post...we happened upon Cappriccos last night in default because the restaurant we intended to go to was closed. What a wonderful default! The food was amazing! I just don't get some of the reviews that have been posted. We started with the Meatball appetizer and the Crispy Zucchini. The meatballs were tender and packed with "old school" Italian flavor and the Zucchini was light and crisp (for my husband to comment on how good the food is is a tell tale sign, he eats to eat, I eat to experience) I NEVER order a pork chop when I am out, but I love Scarparielio sauce and didn't want to ask to substitute chicken. That was one of the best sauces and the pork was tender (at first touch I thought it may be under cooked? not at all, cooked perfect just that tender) the crisp potatoes that were softened with the sauce led to the complete perfection of the dish. My husband had the Bronzino and ate every bite along with my daughters boyfriends pasta, Orrecchiette with pesto, broccoli rabe and sausage whose plate did not leave a trace. The cocktail list is great along with the beer and wine selections. Is it pricey? Is anything NOT pricey in these days? I wish we lived closer to Stamford, Cappriccio's would be a staple...

GLASS IN THE FOOD!!! Me and my girlfriends went there the other night. The food was pretty good - no complaints there. The problem was that we ordered cappuccinos and they came out and one of the cups was huge and the others were tiny. When asked why this was the waitress said "Oh, we just use whatever size cup that is available" - A little weird to order the same thing and get grossly different ammounts? THEN we ordered dessert and things went from bad to worse! My friend ordered gellato and felt something funny in her mouth which she thought was chunks of ice but what turned out to be SLIVERS OF GLASS!!! She couldn't believe it and called over the waitress who had this attitude like "what do you want me to do about it? No harm no foul" We had the manager come over and he looked like a busboy they pulled out of the kitchen and asked to act as a manager to take the complaint which is what I'm sure the situation was and he took the same attitude...what would have happened if she had swallowed the glass and had her intestines cut up? "Oh well?" They took the glass riddled gellato and the cappuccinos off of our bill but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I am never going back and they are lucky that we didn't call the...

We generally order in but it was a warm evening so decided to go eat at their patio. All was going well we ordered some starters and drinks. Ordered mains and two kids meals. Then the problems came. One of the kids meal the simple pasta and butter.. well let's just say the pasta so was al dente it was hard possibly reheated....I mean it's spaghetti and butter should be easy enough. My main course didnt arrive the Fettina de Manzo steak over arugula. I asked a few times and was told it was on the grill.

Was offered another glass of wine in mean time.

Well after a long wait and after everyone else had finished their mains mine was still being made? I mean it's steak and lettuce!!!

I cancelled the dish as I didn't see the point of me eating by myself... also the extra glass of wine never arrived either.

I asked for the check and the waiter gave me a hurried sorry... but that was it ... no comping a glass of wine or a kids meal or a manager coming over to apologize... really poor show for a local place we order from a lot!!! You can't keep one party waiting for a main course esp after everyone has finished without some kind of apology? I don't ask for much but this kinda ruined the family dinner and my previous thought on...
