Mecha Noodle Bar — Restaurant in Stamford

Great food, consistent, delicious, perfectly priced (such large portions). Bar tenders are awesome at whipping up unusual cocktails. They are creative and stay on “trend” by making beautiful, delicious, and aesthetically pleasing drinks. One of the crafty cocktails I ordered one time came with a polaroid picture. The bartender came over with my drink, snapped our groups picture and handed me the 2x2 snapshot of us! How fun?

Location is great, right in the middle of downtown Stamford. There is lots of (paid) parking either out front or in large lot in the back where there is also a parking garage. I personally enjoy this location in comparison to the Norwalk one. I have not yet visited the Fairfield, New Haven, or West Hartford locations.

Literally my ONLY complaint… Heads up on the seats, objectively they are not very comfortable. If your rear-end does not have a lot of “cushion” you may be slightly uncomfortable, but that’s nothing a big steaming bowl of their Ramen can’t fix (or at least distract you from). I prefer sitting at the bar here.

Menu: If you can't decide on what to order then let me help you navigate, as I have personally eaten through their entire menu, including “seasonal specials". Below is one item from each category (in my opinion) that’ worth trying.

1. Steamed Baos: -KFC (Korean fried chicken) Bao Buns *IF they have the special for “Burger Bao Buns” THEN GET IT! It’s quite delightful, and now I’m currently salivating.
2. Appetizers: This category is the hardest to narrow down to just one (I LOVE 7 out of 10 of them). -FIRECRACKER WINGS
3. Pho: -PHO TAI- can’t go wrong with it, as it’s a classic pho.
4. Ramen: -TONKOTSU 2.0 *And hear me when I say this…. Add-on Short rib, trust me it’s so worth it. Also pretty cool that $0.50 of every bowl of ramen sold is donated directly to a good cause in our community.

My unreal experience started before even walking in as at 9pm, not much around was open and I just finished a long day of travel from the west coast. I called ahead as I'm severely allergic to sesame products, and wanted to see if I could have anything on the menu. I was lucky to get Nick on the phone who had the absolute courtesy of reading LITERALLY EVERYTHING on the menu and telling me if I could or couldn't eat it, or if I could eat it with tweaks. This man spent 10 minutes on the phone doing this. Obviously I ran over knowing I won't die for simply wanting to eat. The atmosphere is beautiful, don't miss the stunning amethyst geode hanging above the bar. This angel man Nick came over again to help me and made damn sure all my food was safe, gave me some wonderful recommendations for drink and food, and chatted me up to not even feel like I was eating alone, all while buzzing around like a bee taking care of the place. All managers and food handlers should use this man as a model. He knew every in and out about EVERY ingredient and mixture (such as people making my meal safely but finishing it with furikake, which has sesame in it 😤). The amount of times I have been to a place and made everyone aware I was allergic to a product, only to end up having a reaction anyway is obscene. Not here! Not to mention the food was INCREDIBLE (dear god please get the mushrooms dumpies) and every drink I had was absolutely perfect and refreshing. I always have a small bit of anxiety eating out, but knowing someone cared that much about my safety and experience is something I can't find words for. I'll always appreciate this meal! Me and my wife’s favorite comfort meals come from Mecha. Whenever we’re craving something savory, we get some ramen!

FOOD: We’ve tried pretty much every dish at this location. The best thing we’ve had are the KFC baos and Ramen. I’d say don’t order the poutine, not very tasty.

SERVICE: The waiters here have mostly stayed unchanged in the last year or so. Food usually comes out very quick and everything is very delicious. I will say, when we go to Mecha, our waiters never come to check out our order at the end, so we end up sitting there for an extra 15-20 minutes waiting to get someone’s attention for the check. Otherwise, we’ve only had 2 bad experiences with a waiter out of the 50 times we’ve been to Mecha (just rudeness, maybe having a bad day).

ATMOSPHERE: Great vibes, happy atmosphere, loud music, a lot of talking, good lighting. Everything about the restaurant’s atmosphere is good. The bathrooms are clean and the chairs are mostly comfy.
