L'uva Wine Room — Restaurant in Starkville

We didn’t eat or have wine here. We wanted to and looked forward to their delicious looking boards and flat breads. We thought their lighter menu would be perfect. We arrived at 8:15 and were seated. We had menus delivered and waters filled. We selected our drinks and spoke with a very nice gentleman about our wine and beer selections. We waited about 10 minutes and our server arrived. It was 8:30. She started to take our order…when she was informed by a colleague that the kitchen was closed at 8:30. So we were asked, “do you still want your drinks?” We got up and left. What could have happened is that we were informed on arrival that the kitchen closed soon, but if we ordered quickly they could serve us. There were quite a few people there who seemed to be enjoying themselves so my review is only how we were not informed of the kitchen closing and the delay...

Wine list was very short for a wine bar, only American white wines. We ordered the chips and Southern Charteuterie board for apps. The chips were just warmed from a bag, not freshly made. The board was completely different from advertised. They sent out a scoop of cream cheese (not softened) with a small scoop of sugar jelly, plain pecans, tomatoes, plain saltines, and dried up sausage. When we asked why everything was different than the menu the waitress said the kitchen was out of some things, but didn't make it right. We ended up sending it back and leaving. This place was just what Starkville needed!! Great wine selection and handcrafted cocktails. Awesome food! They have a great sommelier, Mel, who can answer any questions you may have. They have classes and event nights geared towards adults. It’s casual fine dining and I am here for it!! The staff is friendly and owners take part in making it a great atmosphere!
