Central Reservation — Restaurant in State College

I received an urgent phone call, was seated next to the stairs to the bottom floor, so I went downstairs. A minute later, an employee came and instructed me to go upstairs and take the phone call outside, explaining that the area is "private" and that customers were not allowed downstairs. There was no barrier, no sign, nothing indicating this. My explanations for my behavior were met with terse and uncompassionate comebacks as they walked away with their back towards me.

Also, I informed the wait person of my dietary restrictions, including gluten sensitivity. I was allowed to order the dish that included a "golden egg" (never heard of such a thing before). It was placed on top of the rest of the food, at which point it was evident that a golden egg involves batter with wheat flour. They apologized and took it back to remove the egg as I had requested. An awkward situation. The wait person needs to know the menu better and/or the menu be revised to include icons or abbreviations describing which dishes are appropriate for a selection of the primary dietary restrictions.

Last night my wife and I went out to Central Reservation. It was absolutely amazing. We were greated by a super hospitable and charismatic host who went above and beyond to tell us about the COVID precautions. When we sat down we were greeted by our waiter who was absolutely spectacular. He provided recommendations and made our experience so special. We asked for a speciality shot because we were celebrating and we were not disappointed the bartender came over and it blew us away. Followed by the food. OH MY GOSH!!! The warm corn salad is to die for and my wife said the cevice was AMAZING. Even the cheeseboard was a beautiful masterpiece. I also have a severe seafood allergy and was insanely impressed with how they handled my food. We asked our waiter if there was a manager or a way to best share how amazing he was and Central Reservation and found out he was the owner. I called 4 times today at 7pm to try and place an order for takeout. No response. I then tried to go in person to place an order for pick up just for Lobster Mac and cheese. The blonde hostess said they don’t do takeout at all until the chef came over and he said they did do takeout, just not of lobster mac. Okay understandable. So I went to pickup my boyfriend then to eat in because I really wanted lobster mac and cheese so he would come with me. By the time I got back to it was after 8 pm and when I got back in the hostess said they don’t seat under 21 after 8pm. I’ve never heard that from a hostess there before, I’ve come so many times with my boyfriend to eat there after 8pm. I just wanted some mac and cheese. I was dressed like I just got out of bed, clearly I wasn’t there to drink.
