Discovering this place was like finding out that you had a gold mine in your backyard. The food at Penn Pide is absolutely delicious! There are 4 different dishes in these photos: Lamb Special, Lamb Biryani, Cheese & Beef Pide, and the Labneh with Honey Pide. Our favorite ones were the Lamb Special as well as the Cheese & Beef Pide. You can’t go wrong with those two! The owner of this place, Abu Yousef, is a very well mannered and respectful gentleman who welcomes everyone to his restaurant. Since it was our first time at his place, he cooked everything with great care and effort. Definitely check out this place, and try out some of the dishes in these photos!

Wanted something different, yet familiar so I tried the Pide (essentially a Turkish pizza) and was not disappointed. Had the Sujuk (Turkish sausage) and a Spinach pide. Pricies were around $9-$10 and it was bigger than expected. It the Sujuk meat had a spice kick to it which was unexpectedly nice! The spinach was good as well. Trying both, I'd likely go for the Sujuk again (simply because it's meat), but I'd also like to try other things on the menu as well on a future visit

So i stopped here after i left the gyro place, just to see what they were offering... this place is a Turkish Mom and Pop joint, incredible to say the least! I wish I could give at least 8 stars.. the Pide was much bigger than i expected and it was packed with goodness- lamb, spices, red sauce and topped with cheese. the dough was soft and gooey. It came with green " mayo" which added a whole other flavor profile.... now I'm hungry, I might hit it up again tonight !!

The food was absolutely fantastic. I ordered the gyro thinking I was going to get the pita wrap sandwich that you normally get at a Greek restaurant. That's not what came out. It was this pizza like thing, like an open face calzone that's pinched on the sides. It's just cheese and meat. It had this amazing like cucumber aioli sauce on the side o dip into. you would think mayonnaise would make this taste heavier but the cucumber gives it a lightness and cuts through. My boyfriend wasn't even hungry and he absolutely devoured his beef kabob dish.

My only complaint would be that the bathroom needs a deep clean. I'm not saying that I wasn't comfortable using it or something. you can just tell they've only been doing the bare minimum of cleaning the toilet, sink, and mopping the floor for a while now. the walls are grimy and definitely need to be wiped down, along with the baseboards which were quite dusty. This is probably just a me thing, I used to clean for a living so it's something I noticed. My boyfriend didn't notice at all. We will definitely be going back to try more...

UPDATED: The Place The Original Review Was Written For Moved To Mosul Grill at 434 E College Avenue!

“The most authentic family owned place in State College to this day!

If you’re new to the deliciously prepared halal Middle Eastern food, then this is a place to go.

Casual on the inside yet meeting fine-dining level cooking with a home touch and caring service! ❤️

Definitely try out “Mandi” cooked with love as an entree or “Kahi and Geymar” pastry for either a dessert or healthy nutritious breakfast along with sweet and crispy “Kadaif” to start your day along with “Menemen” (aka “the Turkish omelette”) served with gourmet cheese plate, pickled tomatoes and brine olives along with a jar of imported honey! Or you can even go for a “Lahmajun”, round, thin piece of dough topped with minced meat, minced vegetables and herbs including onions, garlic, tomatoes, red peppers, and parsley… yum 😋. :)

The menu board includes photographs that accompany each dish, which aid in preparation and presentation as well as offer a glimpse of the owners’ couple captivating...
