Not the best experience. We decided to try somewhere other than our usual Sunday brunch spot on this particular day. After some deliberation, we decided to give Loc’s a try since everyone seemed to be in the mood for some chicken & waffles. Our group of 4 people arrived around 2:15 and were impressed with the size and decor of the restaurant. There was a sign that stated we needed to wait to be seated, however there didn’t appear to be a hostess or anyone in designated to seat customers. After about 10 minutes we finally stopped a waiter to ask about seating and he pointed us to a nearby booth (without giving menus). After sitting for about another 10 minutes, watching servers pass by ... someone finally asked if we had been helped. She proceeded to take our drink order and offer menus. After a while later, our actual waitress arrived. We began to place our food orders, which seemed difficult. When my son asked for biscuits (item on the menu), she acted confused and said they didn’t have “just biscuits”. However, we got that settled, and she did bring biscuits in addition to his order of Chicken & Waffles. The menu itself is extensive and appeals to a wide variety of tastes. Yet there was also some confusion when another person in our group ordered just 2 items off the side items menu. She didn’t seem to understand and acted as if this wasn’t something that could done. When looking at the menu, we noticed that the Waffles come with Strawberry Butter. Although I am sure it is amazing, there were 2 in our party that didn’t like the sound of that, and preferred plain butter. Once again, this was an issue. Our waitress seemed annoyed by this request and when the Waffles were brought to the table, they had the Strawberry Butter. We had to send them back in exchange for the original request. Now after an extremely long “wait time” for our food to start arriving... we were rather bothered by the fact that each order was brought out at various times (including side items being delivered separately as well). No one wanted to begin eating till others had something to eat also. Once all orders were out, our waitress was not to be seen. Everyone was in need of drink refills. We ended up stopping another waitress and asking for assistance. When we were ready to leave, we asked another employee if they could let our server know that we were ready for our bill. She then came to our table with the check and we then requested a box for left overs (which she did bring us). Needless to say, overall the food was delicious. The Chicken & Waffles were a huge portion. The Waffle Sandwich was amazing as well. Everyone LOVED the hash browns and the biscuits and gravy. Yum! I would not recommend the Mac and Cheese. I was disappointed that it was clearly Kraft Mac and Cheese. I can’t say if we will be returning to Loc’s. My husband and I are more open minded to giving it another try. However, the kids (college) are completely opposed to coming back, which they are the ones that eat out ALL THE TIME in Statesboro and get together with friends at restaurants. For them I think the overall disappointing service outweighed the...
Read moreWe came in as a party of 7, so we assumed we would be waiting a little longer to get seated and served, and the wait to be seated really wasn’t that long, but we did spend a crazy amount of time waiting for every other part of the process. A waitress was prompt with menus and initial drink orders and the brought those drinks quickly, but after that, we barely saw her. She never came back to check on our table after we placed our orders. She never gave us refills on drinks, or checked if we needed any condiments that were not readily available on the table. We only managed to successfully flag her down once for 2 members of our party to get refilled drinks. The wait for the food was a good while. Tables came and went before we got ours orders and none it if came together. It was staggered to where only 2-3 people got to eat at a time while we all sat together, and the time between everyone else’s dishes was so long it would have been cold if they had waited for everyone so we could eat together. After we finished we waited another 30 minutes for the checks.. when we got them, the checks were not correct. Some people where charged for other people’s food, and one member got charged for 2 drinks when he ordered water.. and the itemized prices listed on the receipt were higher than the prices on the paper menus in store and the online menu by 50 cent to a dollar per menu item. We thought maybe they were including the gratuity into the price for the size of our party but it did not indicate that it was being done that way. We asked for a to go drink and never got it. We spent 2 hours in the restaurant for at most 30 minutes to be spent actually dining. It seemed like there were 15 people in a uniform but only 3 people actually doing anything. Out of town friends we came with were disappointed and the local party members will not return. Food itself was good, service...
Read moreAll I can say about this Loc's location is that the food is great (try the shrimp and grits!). However, if you're looking for good service when they're busy - DON'T BOTHER. The servers get stressed and rude, and your meal will come out sporadically. We literally received our meal for four over a span of 30 minutes and it was THROWN on our table by Kiera, spilling food everywhere, without any words, an apology or an offer of replacement. My family was told to "seat ourselves" at dirty tables, and when we proceeded to clear the previous diners' cups, Kiera told us (not our server but with a very nasty attitude) that we weren't helping anything and pointed and talked about us throughout our visit. Yes, I e-mailed Loc's directly, with promise of a response, and received none. My professional advice after being in the restaurant business for over 30 years is this... visit Loc's when they can focus on you - because when they get in "the weeds" they honestly can't handle things. 4☆ for food, 0☆ for service, and yes - we are (were) regulars. I gave them 10 days to respond to my e-mail... I reviewed their ratings. Good luck to you, Loc's... the four of us spent $55.19 ON BREAKFAST plus a $10.81 tip to Alissa... and, it takes a LOT to push me over the line. However, considering the way we were treated last weekend and the inability to try to make things right privately, we won't be back. Remember, you aren't the only restaurant...
