Scooter's Coffee — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

First off this coffee shop is amazing I was so excited when I saw it going up and couldn’t wait to try it. Everything I’ve had so far has been amazing and the baristas are absolutely rock stars not only from a customer perspective but also as a former manager always polite and upbeat and always trying to upsell I love it! With all that being said I visited today and got an amazing iced latte and when I went to pay I used my card and asked if she could add a tip and she said she’s not able to seems how they don’t have the hand held P.O.S I hardly carry cash on me and wasn’t able to tip. I asked why they couldn’t use it anymore and while it is understandable from a business owner point of view to always want to please the customers sometimes you have to take a stand for the employees. I ran a couple of coffee shops while the owner was off with another business venture and this is something I dealt with we brought in the handheld because cash tips were very minimal and in this economy tips are need to help sustain a somewhat livable wage on a barista’s salary. This isn’t a Tim Horton where they just press a button and coffee is done drinks are handcrafted individually they are essentially bar tenders minus the alcohol. All of that being said to say you can’t please everyone customers will come and go but if they’re going to throw a fit about the tip option showing up when you can simply just hit no tip do you really want their business? Please bring back the hand held p.o.s so these amazing baristas can get the tips they very much so deserve? I love this place and hope to see you thrive in...

I’ve been a daily customer at Scooter's for a few months now — I always appreciated the consistency, friendly service, and quality drinks. But during my most recent visit, I was really disappointed.

A new staff member was working that day — someone I had never seen before. I ordered two drinks — one the same as I always get (with my usual modifications), and another the same drink in its standard form. She messed up my order and then charged me extra, without apologizing or offering to fix it. When I asked her to remake the drink correctly, she was disrespectful, rude to me and even said "I “didn’t say that when I ordered.” It’s not about the extra charge — I would have let it go if she’d just corrected the mistake and offered an apology but she did not.

What made it worse: I tried to use a coupon I had gotten from that location just a few days earlier (because their coffee machine had been down and drinks were taking longer to make). I also wanted to redeem my reward points. While I should have been allowed to use both, she gave me a hard time about it — insisted I couldn’t, argued, and told me I "just need to pay it".

So overall, I paid extra for the wrong drink and a bad experience. Because of that interaction and disrespect, I won’t be visiting this location again.

I hope management will address staff training, courtesy, and consistency, so other loyal patrons aren’t driven away by a single...

Had wanted to try Scooters at the suggestion of a friend of mine for awhile now and the other day I finally got to try them and WOW! I am impressed! I went at 5:15am on a Wednesday and they already had a line when I arrived! But if your eyes were closed you wouldn’t have known there was a line as the time it took to order my latte, pay, and receive my delicious drink in my hand was under 5 minutes! Color me impressed! And bonus points for them offering sugar free hazelnut as a flavoring option because hardly any coffee shops offer it and that is my favorite latte/coffee flavor! I will also add that my latte was mistakenly made iced and I ordered it hot and they remade it for me in a gif and still kept my total wait time under 5 minutes from ordering to paying! Phenomenal! The staff is very friendly! The espresso is incredibly smooth! I do wish they had more dairy free options. They currently have oat, coconut, and almond milk. However I like soy milk. Soy milk is most similar to cows milk nutritionally and doesn’t spike my blood sugar like the other options do. So it would be great to see soy milk as a dairy free option in the future!
