UPDATE I really hate to drop a star, but at this point I am annoyed with the service the last few times we have been here. We always order the same thing, the 25 tender family meal with 3 sides and 6 rolls. We always get it with 2 mashed potatoes and gravy and a family sized okra. We always add on either 1/2 dozen or a full dozen rolls. We used to just get the family sized gravy and I would add on 2-3 zing sauces, but lately we have been getting 2 individual gravy, 2 zing and 2 honey mustard instead... This time we only got 22 tenders instead of 25, 5 rolls instead of 6 and we were missing either the 2 individual gravy, or the 2 that were supposed to come with the potatoes. Not sure which, but there were only 2 tiny things of gravy instead of 4, and we were missing the extra 1/2 dozen rolls. We did check for the okra and extra rolls before leaving this time because of what happened last time, and it was fixed, but we didn't check inside the chicken box or the sauces. For almost $60 I would appreciate actually getting everything that was paid for. The time before this we ordered the same thing, but had to come back for the okra as the only small box in the bag had the extra rolls. Then the time before that we had to come back for the extra rolls... So, unfortunately we now feel like we must go through everything before leaving each time. We will continue to come here as we still think this place has the best food like this in town. But we will be unpacking and going through everything before leaving... That said, each time the issue was fixed if we came back, this time we didn't bother going back for the 3 strips, roll or gravy. I am thinking that they were thinking of the 20 piece family meal or something even through we did get the 3 sides. But Idk...
I am hoping that the managers or owner sees this and hopefully makes a point to talk to employees about double checking large orders, maybe using a checklist and/or laying everything out and waiting till it's all there to pack it or something. I understand that if busy that would be hard, although they were not busy today when we arrived to pick up the order and I ordered hours ahead of pick up time as usual to hopefully give them time to prepare. But they could use a simple checklist and mark off items as they are bagged or something to keep track of what they are doing.
ORIGINAL REVIEW They made excellent use of the old taco-mayo building, by the time they were done remodeling it I didn't even recognize it! Omg I am so happy this place opened!!! Out of all the chicken places that have come to town in the past few years this one is the best one yet! With the exception of our Chick-Fil-A ... It would be a hard decision to try and choose between chick-fil-a and golden chick lol.. So I won't! To be honest it would just come down to what I was in the mood for... The chicken strips here are perfect... A light, thin, very crispy batter but not hard to bite or chew... Tender juicy and flavorful inside.... Absolutely love the spicy strips!! The sides we have tried have all been really good and we are in love with the rolls... Read moreI know one star seems harsh, but honestly take your business elsewhere. I don't know if it's status quo for the chain as a whole or just that this location has dropped the ball, but wow is it difficult to get the food you ordered here.
I'm partial to their roasted chicken. It's good. Know how often they have it on hand, beyond a couple pieces? Maybe 50% of the time. Doesn't matter if it's dinner rush or the middle of a lull, there's not enough to fill a single ten piece order. Sometimes I'll be asked to wait a few while they finish some up, cool cool slightly inconvenient but I like fresh chicken. Sometimes, it's tough luck we have none. Ook guess I'll go somewhere else. Sometimes it's hey we have X amount and we can sub the rest with fried. Not my fav but I'm not unreasonable. Unfortunately someone in there has no qualms with either being unable to count, or plainly lying about how much of what I've ordered I'll actually be getting.
But none of that is an absolute deal breaker. Inconvenient and enough to keep me from visiting often? Yes, but not worth one star. No, what got them a one rating is the complete indifference of the management after my order had been taken AND payed for before anybody thought to check if they had the product on hand.
Not only did the manger refuse to refund the money back to the card charged, but he also refused to say even a single word to me. Poor guy working the window was left to awkwardly apologize after calling his manager over, who walked up to and by the window without even so much as glancing at me. Honestly it was impressive. I don't think anyone should have bent over backwards apologizing; I get it, mistakes happen, but pretending I don't exist/warrant the effort to say "sorry bout that" is ridiculous. It's "customer service" like that that tells me my patronage isn't important and my money is better spent elsewhere. I ordered food on-line and picked up in store. I arrived and was told my food wasn't ready. I waited 23 minutes in the store.
While I was waiting I watched the female manager with a wrap on her head literally raise her voice to a young man saying "if you don't like it, go home." The whole lobby heard it and there was at least 10 customers in the store. Very unprofessional! Do that in the back where no one can hear you and you don't publicly humiliate your co worker. I was embarrassed for him!
While waiting I watched a couple of customers come in with the wrong order so, I decided I was going to check my food when I finally got it. 23 minutes later I received my food and took it to a table and double checked my order. I also was missing two items. Ugh..... 23 minutes and they couldn't even get my order right. After receiving the missing food I went home and finally got to eat.
Again, never ate here before so when I seen my chicken sandwich in the bag i assumed it was the spicy one I had ordered. It was not! It was a regular chicken sandwich. Very disappointing after the store experience.
So on to the taste of the food...... the sweet tea was actually sweet and good. The sides were bland. Chicken was ok but definitely not enough seasoning. The fries were good and for fast food catfish it was surprisingly good.
Will I come back? Yes, but I will stay in drive-thru where I can at least be comfortable in my own car waiting. Also, will only order fish & fries.
