The Monarch — Restaurant in Stillwater

We eagerly anticipated eating at Monarch. Had reservations for 7 pm with our friends for couples date night. We were promptly seated at 7 pm. From there it had a few highs and several lows. The atmosphere is nice. The server came and took our drink order within a few minutes of sitting down. We ordered appetizers a few minutes later. Time was 7:10 ish.. Another table was seated next to us around 7:15 and received their drink order at 7:25. We ordered dinner at 7:45 and waited. Our appetizers arrived at 7:55. Still waiting on our initial drink order (water was almost gone). Just after 8 pm our drinks finally arrived. The appetizers were amazing! The Mushroom Crostini and Pan-Seared Sea Scallops were amazing. We quickly forgot about our wait for the drinks and appetizers. The ladies ordered another glass of wine and were promptly served (1 was supposed to be Moscato, but got Chardonnay) but rolled with it. At 8:55 the main entrée arrived. Two Ribeye specials and 2 Filet dinners. Were told the ribeyes were 13-16 oz and were lucky to be 8-9 oz. The ribeyes ordered were to be medium rare and the other medium. Medium well and well done were served. The same was ordered for the filets except one received was medium and the other well-done. One filet and one ribeye were sent back. Another filet was immediately brought, only to be well-done. After sending it back, were told 5-10 minutes to remake them. FIFTEEN minutes later, we are sorry, we are out of filet and ribeye, but will get you sirloin. Meanwhile, one guest finished their entree and ordered bread pudding desert. At 9:35 two sirloins were served. Both cold and sadly were tough and not edible. The desert arrived. It was wonderful. Warmer than any of the main entrées served. This was the worst meal and service we have had over a 12 year period of our couples date nights. Server never kept us informed, entrées were over cooked and served luke warm, no management / owner visiting tables or room the entire time, still given over a $200.00 bill. We left at 9:40 and headed home so that we could actually eat. Very sad as there is potential, but wont last if dining experiences like ours...

If I could give zero stars I would. The prices are insane, the food isn’t that great, and don’t even get me started on the portion sizes. I left hungrier than I was when I walked in. $26 for roasted chicken, and it wasn’t even half a chicken breast. And the crackers on the charcuterie board were saltines you could buy at Walmart. Service wasn’t great either. After bread, and appetizers they failed to take the rest of the plates away, so by the time we got our entrees there was no room on the tiny table for them. Instead of taking our empty appetizer plates away (like we asked) they just scooted them to the edge of the table to make room for our entree plates. The ambience is bad too. It desperately wants to be a fancy restaurant, but the quality of everything in there is as if Shein owned a furniture store. It feels like a bad satire of a fancy restaurant. With those prices and ridiculously small portions, I doubt they’ll last a year. It was just two of us eating, we were charged $99, and had nothing to take home, because once again the portions are RIDICULOUSLY SMALL. Save your money, and go to...

It was definitely a bit of a letdown. We went here the day before Valentine's Day so it was understandably busy. It looked like there were only two servers for the entire place that were also responsible for bussing all tables. This was reflected in service later on. At first they gave my wife a meal that was incorrect and told us we could keep it. They came around a few moments later after she already put her fork in it they asked if she had taken a bite yet and said they were going to take it to another table. We saw them place it later on a table in front of us. I then got my food but waited for a few more minutes for my wife's food to arrive. When it arrived the presentation looked great. We both got the filet mignon. The mashed potatoes seemed like they had been taken directly from a fridge and were very cold which was a disappointment.
