Myself and some friends stopped in today to pick up some sandwiches while we were passing through Stowe. We looked at the menu beforehand and glanced at it quickly while we were inside before we ordered. It was busy but there was no one taking orders for a few minutes and we were a little confused on where to wait until a gentleman stepped up to the counter to ask who was next. I asked if I could order a grilled cheese and before I could even finish asking what I wanted he cut me off and said “IS THE SIGN NOT OUT THERE?!?!!” Confused, I stepped back and saw a “sign” next to the menu that said “GRILL IS OFF” in small print on a white piece of paper taped to the sign. I was so taken aback by his extremely rude tone and aggressiveness that I told him to forget it and ended up leaving with our friends. We were tempted to say something on the way out but I think we were all just so stunned and once we got into the car all of us agreed we have NEVER been treated by someone in the service industry like that before. I understand the grill was off and we didn’t see the sign but he did not need to speak to us like we were idiots. I frequent this area often and i’ll never support this business again if they have people like this working for them. Vermont businesses have some of the most friendly staff because the locals are such wonderful people. This guy must really hate his job if he thinks its ok to speak to the general...
Read moreSadly a not a place I recommend. I sat at outdoor bar (by myself just got off trail) bar server acted annoyed. I finally asked if he had any house red. He seemed more annoyed and said "I would have to go inside if you want that". I said that's okay, no worries I like white and will have what ever is easiest. He turned around looked anothe neath, came back and placed a glass of red in front of me, and then ignored my 5 attempts to ask a question about getting a menu. I asked for bill and he yelled back "fifteen plus change" then said " I can get you a check". 15$ fior a glass of wine, that I did not finish because he told me he had no red and this glass came with no explanation of price. I asked fior house red. Because I believe in good humanity I still left him 5 tip. But now I am broke, feeling discouraged. The other waiter with the pony tail, actually apologized to me. Wish he was my server, he was nice to everyone. Other guy needs to get lessons on kindness and serving. Will never go again and will tell all my friends in area and at the...
Read moreCan't say enough good things about this place. Went there three times in three days! Their sandwiches from the deli were phenomenal. I got a "Montreal we" which was hot pastrami, thousand island dressing, and coleslaw. My wife had a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce and stuffing, and my daughter had a breakfast burrito. We also got the chicken salad which is out of this world. They have incredible baked goods as well, including nearly perfect chocolate chip cookies, great whoopie pies, and other treats. They have a great selection of drinks, chips, beer, wine, and other foods (think bread, eggs, etc). Finally, they are also home to Black Flannel distillery a small batch outfit making gin, whiskey, rum and other craft spirits! Staff is great, and wish I had a store/deli like this...
