My husband and I decided to try the Blue Donkey on a date night. Since this place is located on the Mountain road in Stowe we expected this place to be a nice spot for adults to grab a "specialty" burger and order a beer. When we first got there we were stopped at a counter where we had to order our food and beer. The menu had very few selections for a "specialty" burger place!! After ordering we sat in the seating area. The seating area was rather uncomfortable, metal chairs and the ice machine is located in the seating area!! What sports were on the T.V. we couldn't even hear over the ice machine. Our beer was left on the bar, poured into a clear plastic cup. We had to get that ourselves!! After our food arrived to the table we got no acknowledgement that we were even there. I didn't even find my burger to be all that "special." For the price we paid for our food and beer I expected better service!! To sum it all up, if you want "Fair" food with "Fair" service this is the place to go!! I definitely will not be...
Read moreWe were in Stowe visiting and decided to go here for some food and drinks. After sitting and getting a few drinks my sister decided to walk up to the bar to get a drink. After standing for about 5-7 mins, The bartender blatantly looked at her twice. Our dad decided to go up and order. He is into all of the fancy stout/IPA beers so he decided to get a stout to start off his night. After finishing the stout, he walked up to get an IPA. The bartender tried to serve the IPA in the STOUT glass. I know very little about beer and know you shouldn’t do this especially when your business is a BAR and YOU CHOSE to serve these beers. When you run a BAR you should have enough pint glasses& if you don’t then at least clean the glass before serving a totally different drink. It’s safe to say the bartender was extremely rude, careless, and extremely unwelcoming for a first time customer so my family and I will NOT...
Read moreThe food was good, the fries would have been better if we didn't get bits of fries rather than actual French fries.. also we arrived around 6:50-7:05ish and not long after we arrived a short woman came and shut the door and was "no longer taking orders" I found this odd being it was a Friday and there were thousands and thousands of people in the area for a lacrosse tournament. She was a little rude about it too, I think her behavior was inappropriate and turning away customers prior to closing was just awful to watch. Being that I worked in management in customer service I was surprised this was happening and confused why you would turn away business on a busy weekend early in the evening. Shame really, but if you arrive early enough I'm sure fries are good and service not...
