I saw a review on here from 7 years ago where the reviewer stated the Chocolate here was "inedible." I don't think I've laughed so hard in a while!
I suppose if you're expecting a Chocolate Candy Bar from a grocery store with 80% sugar, perhaps you might be disappointed.
My wife and I drove to Stuart from Orlando before New Year's specifically to try this chocolate. We read somewhere that it was one of the best Bean to Bar craft chocolates in the entire country, and we've been on a bit of a chocolate kick as of late.
I lived in Belgium for a number of years. I've had truffles from the exact shop that literally invented the concept of a Filled Chocolate. I'm no connoisseur, but I have eaten my fair share of chocolate in my life.
That all having been said, Castronovo is hands down the best tasting chocolate bar I've had in my life! Every bar has a distinctive flavor and undertone from the region the cacao was sourced, my favorite being the Honduran, but you cannot go wrong with any of them!
You can find single origin chocolate in a lot of places in every price range - but there is a lot that goes into bringing out the flavors, getting the right texture, selecting the right beans, roasting them a certain way etc that takes a lot of time, and cheap chocolates do not have that kind of time spent on them. That's what separates grocery store chocolate from international award winning chocolate.
Some folks might get a bit of sticker shock. If you go here with a "price per ounce" mindset you'll be taken aback. But you shouldn't be looking at the ounces - you should be respecting the skill and labor of a small business producing literally World Class Chocolate in our own Florida back yard. You are paying for expertise and time when you buy from a skilled artisan.
You can spend tens of thousands on a vacation to Europe and be hard pressed to find a better quality chocolate. If you don't like Castronovo chocolate, then you probably don't like Real...
Read moreDenise Castronovo’s chocolate in St Port Lucie is an elegant and personal gem of a chocolate shop. Just fine high quality locally made chocolate are some here. The chocolate is “bean to bar” meaning she controls the rather difficult chocolate making process. This is a very impressive task and takes quite a bit of skill as l know from my own difficulties with making bars.
Denise has had much greater success at making her chocolate then I did. According to her web site, she is the only U.S. female chocolate maker to have been awarded prizes at the International Chocolate Awards...ok she can do her hair flick now.
Her bars win awards and are a work of art but my favorite is a hand rolled dark chocolate truffle they make periodically. Again, it is the sheer eloquence of the piece that sets her work apart. A hand rolled chocolate ganache, dipped in dark chocolate, it is full of flavor but so delicate its best enjoyed straight away on a summer’s day or you had better being a cooler. I’m pretty sure they are in limited supply as well so, get there in the morning or order ahead. Over all, because of its high quality, local focus, and craftsmanship this shop is among the best chocolate...
Read moreI LOVE this chocolate bar from Tumaco,Colombia, theres something about it that keeps me coming back whether it's the silky-smooth texture once everything dissolves in your mouth or perhaps there's an ancestor attached through it subconsciously having me come back for more to leave a hole in my pocket. 🤭 Whatever it is , if you ask me would I rather save 16 bucks for something else or grab a chocolate from Castronovo I'd definitely say buy the chocolate. It's an experience, close your eyes and imagine your the lucky owner traveling the world , meeting lovely hard working people because you know once you get home if you ask your boyfriend to wash his dirty laundry he's gonna moan and complain for a whole year and who wants to hear that ?! Not me.... So maybe one of these chocolates will take you far away somewhere special as you take a bite to get away from your daily stresses. Another favorite of mine only offered on Thursday and Fridays around 1ish is these delicious chocolate chip cookies . Heaven! Now close your eyes , smell the chocolate, taste the chocolate, and dream Channing Tatum is about to sweep you off your...
