So...wife and I decided on Freddy's before leaving the house. We've eaten there before pre pandemic and it was good. We've traveled all over the country and as we all know, some burger places are better then others. But for fast food, Freddy's stands out to me for one, maybe 2, reasons. But since I review the restaurant as a whole, we'll go through the whole process. Ready? Let's do it....
We went to the University Blvd location in Suffolk. When I stepped in through the doors it was immaculately clean. Tables wiped down, floors spotless, trash cans weren't piled up, everything organized, no trays or baskets waiting to be picked up, It smelled clean. Big plus. The order was a number 1 combo and a fried Alaskan Cod basket and an order of onion rings. (Cause I like onion rings) My wife's burger was delicious she said. It had lettuce pickle and onion, mustard and mayo. The Freddy's original. And she ate almost all of it so it must have been good. I had the Alaskan Cod basket and I was presently surprised by it. It wasn't over battered, perfectly cooked through and had a really good flavor. The crunch when you bite into it was satisfying and the flakyness of the fish combined with the flavor just brought it all together. Yes, it was a frozen fish filet. 4 of them to be exact but they were delicious. The thin mountain of fries they give you with an order stayed crispy for the entire time. Really pleased with the food.
Now the cleanliness was one thing. As I said, spotless. But the customer service was absolutely fantastic. The lady that took our order was friendly and helpful and very polite. When our order was ready they called our number over the speaker. As I approached the counter the gentleman asked me if I wanted any condiments for our meal. I told him what I wanted and he got it with no problems. As we we're finishing up our meal, the manager came around asking if everything was OK and how I liked the fish. I commented that you don't normally see fried fish baskets on a menu at a fast food place and that I was highly pleased with the food. She then explained that it was originally a lent item, but the warehouse sent more after because I'm assuming they had more to give. She also explained that some people would get angry if they wanted it and it wasn't available. So know that if you go in there looking for fish, there's a good chance you won't find it other than Easter time. So don't yell at the staff, there's nothing they can do about it.
So if you're hungry for a really good burger, chicken sandwich, hot crispy fries and some fantastic onion rings, not to mention everything else on the menu, stop in at lunch time and say hi to the guys and gals at Freddy's Frozen Custard. They'll treat you right. Oh, and grab a pint or a quart of their famous frozen Custard to go. I promise you won't be disappointed. Ratings are as follows:
Cleanliness: A+ Service: A+ Food: B+ (Hot fresh and flavorful) Overall Grade: A
Well done to the entire crew at Freddy's Frozen Custard Suffolk Store...
Read moreThis location has issues! My family and I came into this establishment about 3 months ago and did not charge us for an $80 order but yet the young lady who missed this mistake is still working there.... my daughter applied here and was hired only to be given uncomfortable working conditions through a few of their different managers... she tried her hardest, brought a notebook to take notes only to be told by a male manager by the name of Rodney that what she was doing was wrong...miss Christal was rude to her..her expectations of test grades from my daughter was very high, threatened to let her go from the start... the managers there do not communicate well if at all... my family and I just went through a stomach flu with only a 2 week window where we all obtained an upper respiratory infection which turned into pneumonia for one of us and COVID for the other... my poor daughter had gone to the hospital twice from this mess, she had notes to cover her... although the latest date that she was supposed to return she spoke with miss ebony another manager there and told her that she hadn't felt 100% and I can vouch that she wasn't... miss ebony told her that it would be ok and not to worry but to come back when she felt her best... only miss Christal just let her go over the phone for "SUPPOSEDLY" abandoning her position... now my daughter's honesty got her fired...if she had gone back to work still coughing and sneezing and wheezing really bad they would have asked her why did she come back if she was still really sick...no one answers the phone at Freddy's... y'all try to put on a good look like a high established fast food joint but that's all it is...a...
Read moreDecided to try again... came in a few months ago with my mo. For ice cream. It was fabulous! But today, for lunch, the food was only slightly better than my last review. It's been a few years so I had hopes things had improved... but yet again, a sloppily made burger with wilty lettuce(and barely any at that), and both the fries and burger were only luke warm. And as everything has, the foods gotten more expensive and not enough improvement to male it worth it. 😭
REALLY really wanted to like/love this place. I grew up on Steak and Shake, so when a steak burger place in this area finally opened up I was stoked. I'll start off with the good: The fries were absolutely amazing! Shoestring style fries can be hard because they can easily be over under cooked in these were absolutely perfect. The price seasoning and fry sauce are also extremely tasty. Now the bad: When I came in there was no one in line ahead of me and I still waited close to 5 minutes to be waited on... nothing spectacular about the staff, not ride but not outstanding. I did asked for no onions, ended up with onions on my burger. And despite adding fry sauce, the Burger was pretty much devoid of taste. The lettuce on the Burger was also very old and wilty. It was a to-go order and I picked it up on shift so I couldn't go back to get a refund or have them re-make it. But I won't be returning, not unless it is to try their custard, which looks good, but didn't have a chance to try it today. But for $10 for just a burger and fries, I'm bummed and I'll go somewhere...
