Update 3 years later: I ordered the shrimp hibachi once again, and this time it was super fresh and delicious. The rice was somewhat drier than my taste, but nothing a little soy sauce couldn't help fix. Didnt order the sushi this time because I didn't feel like it.. I do want to say that this is affordable as a sushi or hibachi place in comparison to other locations if you're looking to save a few more bucks, but for a quick bite and not as super flavorful. For those who forget, this is not a place that serves extra fancy sushi like the pricier restaurants. It's going to be americanized and it's going to be fast because this place is a quick stop for eating. Lower your expectations.
-‐------------------ 3 years ago: Average. I tried the shrimp hibachi, and volcano rolls (they ran out of sushi rice, and this one was supposed to be spicy). Hibachi is okay. Some of the cooking was really uneven, and the taste was okay. Nothing lost it's flavor. However, I have to say I got the weirdest sauce that came with it. It was mayo, but flavored..Very odd sauce. I won't recommend having it in the hibachi. Sushi was not really spicy as I expected it to be..I would go back, but maybe sometime later in the future. It's pretty americanized...
Read moreI’ve had hibachi all along the east coast of Virginia and North Carolina and I’ve also had hibachi at several places in Charlotte, NC. Sakura Express in Suffolk has the best hibachi I’ve had out of all the other places I’ve tried. Whenever I visit my parents I love going to this place. They also have other interesting things, such as the ramen, that they have added to their menu over the years. All hibachi meals come with a generous portion of white sauce, the meat is tender and juicy, and the noodles have a fantastic taste and texture. They also sauté a wonderful mixture of vegetables into their hibachi and teriyaki dishes. I’ve been to so many hibachi places that charge extra to get the kind of vegetables they include with meals at this restaurant. The prices are fair and the portions do not disappoint. I’ll usually make about two sometimes three meals out of how much food they give. If you enjoy Japanese inspired food this is definitely a place you need to try. I’ve found that the service and atmosphere definitely have room for improvement but they are still top tier. However, I would say the taste, quality, and quantity of the food is what really earns this restaurant a five star...
Read moreUnfortunately, it was not good at all. We came a year or so ago and it was so amazing, but we went back a few months back and after standing so long at the entrance I finally asked someone if we could sit down and she took us to our table but no one ever came to even get drink orders so we finally just got up and left. We went back tonight, hoping that the last time they were just short staffed, and at least we were greeted this time and sat down right away. They brought out apps and food out at all different times. We got edamame that they never brought but still charged us for but I did make them aware and they removed it from the bill. I got the yaki soba which was noodles, chicken and vegetables. Didn’t come with vegetables so they had to make me some. The noodles were almost like thin spaghetti noodles and I don’t think the chicken was actually chicken. It was so soft, like the texture was off, I just didn’t even end up eating. There was never no apologies or anything. The young girls who who were servers were very nice so at least that was good. However, Super disappointed. We...
