Not entirely sure how they managed to collect these great reviews. My first lunch experience was rather disappointing. The place. It is pretty clean and tidy but with zero Thai vibe. Zero of any vibe. Waiting staff were all none Thai/Asian. I got a glimpse of the kitchen and the person at the cooking station was not Asian either. The first red flag for a place claimed to be a Thai restaurant. Food. My green curry came way too sugary sweet. Not how it is supposed to be. My bowl of rice was soggy soft and grains all clumped together. Not a hint of the signature Jasmine rice fragrance. When I asked if this was Jasmine rice when checking out, the waiter didn’t even know. He asked the kitchen staff and they answered yes. But really? Whatever that is, they either didn’t cook it right or recooked it from left over. Service. The waitress brought out the food. That was it. No one ever cared to come check on me or refill the water. Of course We pay at the register ourselves. When I got my receipt, I noticed that I was charged $13.99 for the dish while the menu indicated it should be $11.99 instead. I asked about it, the answer was, oh that was dinner order. Wait a minute, it was lunch time and I never asked for dinner order. I ordered it while pointing to the item on the lunch menu I was given. You would think they would have offered to refund the money as a gesture for the mistake, although it was only 2 bucks. But nope, the waiter simply said sorry, but you got more food!
All in all, not...
Read moreEDIT: Came back and was not disappointed. My family and I enjoyed some tasty dishes including the tom yum soup (spice level 3 is perfect for a cold evening, or level 4 if you want to clear your sinuses - in a good way), drunken noodles, and Penang curry. The basil stir fry didn't pack the basil bomb one would expect so I'd stick with the curries and noodle dishes. The service was excellent! The current staff were able to honor an offer from a former manager which is a testament to their customer service. Our meals had flavor, spice, and the sour-y saltiness Thai cuisine is known for. The Nines is proving to be our family's go-to Thai restaurant in the area. I'd recommend trying some dishes but be prepared because their spice levels aren't watered down - which is a good thing in my book. A solid 4 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Previous Review: The Nines provide decent Thai food. Not bad, not great. Unfortunately our order was slightly mixed up. Ordered beef with spicy red curry and received chicken in mild red curry (beef is $3 extra, chicken is no charge). Also, our medium level green curry with vegetables was spicy which was unpleasant since my vegetarian relatives cannot handle spicy food. The drunken noodles were pretty good but wish the amount of noodles was a bit more. It is possible I will try The Nines again but it would be for dine-in as take...
Read moreThe food was undoubtedly really good. But unfortunately they try to rip you off at the end. Instead of bringing you the bill like most places do, she handed me the card machine to pay and add a tip without even showing me what i was being charged for. I requested to see a bill first to which she got annoyed but obliged thankfully. To my surprise i was charged $7 extra for EACH entree my family of 4 ordered, of which 2 were kids meals. Since we are vegetarian she asked while taking our order whether i wanted vegan sauce instead of the regular and i said yes that would be great, but never did she tell me they would charge 3 dollars extra for using a vegan sauce on EACH entrée. Where each entree comes with a protein (meat or tofu) she suggested we try the vegan protein again never mentioning that we would be charged $4 for the substitution on EACH entrée. And the cherry on top is YES they do charge a 18% service fee!! And she tried to show me a final amount with all these charges in addition to asking me to select a 18, 20, or 25% tip. ALWAYS ASK TO SEE YOUR BILL! We paid $107 for 2 adults and 2 kids. For an informal impromptu cafe meal 🤔 i dont care how great the food is, i just didn't like the vibe at the end...they go out of their...
