Long story short - don’t go here customer service sucks and if you happen to walk in and watch out for a girl name Ashely, she sucks.
We had heard such amazing things about this dessert and being from out of town it was on our list of places to visit. We walked in at 9:45 and the second we walked in I wished we hadn’t. Typically when you look up hrs a store is open and it’s listed as open until 10 it means I have until 10 to go and get food. We walked in and Ashely rolled her eyes and looked at her watch to check the time, Huffing and puffing because we had walked in. She was disrespectful and murmuring about the fact that we had come into the store. She made it SO clear that we were not welcome, so much for souther hospitality. Then she was turning off lights to the sign and kept bringing up the fact that they had to mop the floors again. Not sure about how it works in the south, but typically if the store is listed open until a certain hour then you are working until then, not cleaning up and closing up shop when you feel like calling quit early on random nights. Customer service is definitely something Ashely needs to work on she was OBNOXIOUS and that’s me being nice. Rudely gave us our order and we were out the door by 9:53 and THEY LOCKED THE DOORS!!! Clearly being open until 10 is a lie. Not sure who owns this place or who the manager is but your staff needs a 101 on customer service because I would NEVER recommend this location to anyone…Ashely if you ever read this pick another line of work that doesn’t have to do with customers cause you have an awful attitude and could use some work on your people skills. To management your staff that was close on Saturday, Feb 22 (Ashely and her team) really could use some training. I bring up Ashely’s name over and over again because she was the FIRST impression of this location and literally THE WORST impression. If I was management she would be the first...
Read moreThere are two basic items you can get. Either a taiyaki with soft serve or just taiyaki. If just taiyaki, look to the right of the menu and pick your fillings (3 or 5?). If you want soft serve with it, go to left side of menu and go through steps 1-3, then topping at the end. For soft serve, besides the regular flavors, there are weekly specials. Many of the specials have intriguing mixes; go ahead and ask for a sample.
We got ours with soft serve, and picked the upside down version with cup so we weren't in a hurry before it melts. One of us got the no cup version and was in a bit more of a hurry (but fun). The red bean filling was good. Want to try custard next time. The toppings weren't very interesting; they were more just light finishing touches.
The desserts were excellent. The taiyakis were freshly made, warm, crispy outside, fluffy inside, with good aroma and perfectly light flavor. The soft serve had good texture consistency, and the flavors were nicely balanced. We tried various flavors and found them all to be good. There was just enough filling to complement everything else without taking over.
Service was pretty good. The woman was very helpful and took the time to explain things to us in a cheerful manner. Another time we went the man looked tired and less enthusiastic, but still it was fine. We didn't mind. They have some outdoor furniture so you can sit outside and enjoy your treats.
Excellent dessert place. Interesting flavors with good textural elements, fun to eat, friendly service, easy parking,...
Read moreMy friends and I tried looking for something sweet nearby and ended up Somi Somi.
I have had other Somi Somi’s before, and overall, I think all their ice cream base is okay. I got the ube and milk tea swirl upside down ahboong, and their ice cream flavors are not as milky and creamy as I would have like with a tart-ish after taste. I do like how they allow you to have more than two toppings though and ended getting three toppings on my ice cream. Their toppings selection consisted of sprinkles, oreos, cap n crunch dust, and more. The taiyaki was made fresh in front of us and was crispy when we bit into it. They also allowed a filling for our taiyaki. We chose nutella, and they gave us a generous amount.
When I went, they had a lot of workers in the front, but they were busy discussing and conversing amongst each other. Despite having a lot of workers in the front, an order was messed up, and the desserts came out slow. While trying to finish our ice creams, it started melting, and we tried asking for a cup for our taiyaki. However, all four workers disappeared from the front, but as we were leaving they came out ans were friendly as they thanked us for coming.
Overall, I think the ice cream base here is not as creamy as I typically like, but the taiyaki...
