I wanted to give more than 2 stars. Really. I figured I would give this place a try after they got rid of Road Runner, hoping for improvements. Not so. Went there for lunch which was probably my first mistake. Empty parking lot is never a good sign. We walked in, waited at the front as the bartenders stared for a minute, and were then told we could sit anywhere. No greeting, no, "Hello, welcome to Parkway Tavern", made the atmosphere a little deadening. Again after taking a seat, we waited several minutes for menus and service in spite of the fact the place had all of 4 patrons. The two bartenders were more keen on carrying on conversation between themselves than servicing guests upon arrival. Very unprofessional. When we finally did order the food came out promptly and was quite delicious! The pretzel was moist, chewy and perfectly salted. The beer cheese dip needed work in terms of consistency, which was rather runny. I ordered chicken sliders and my boyfriend had fish and chips; all praise to the chef, they were moist and tasted fresh, though the bun seemed a little stale. The margarita was excellent. A perfect balance of lime juice and Patron. Now here's where I had another gripe, when I received the bill I was charged 16 for the margarita (8 dollars each, as on the menu) but underneath that was an extra 4 dollar charge each for Patron. Not only did this have the possibility of being a betrayal of what they advertised to be a "Pkwy Patron Margarita", if they put extra shots in our beverages, they certainly were not asked to. I'm all for the food here, but the staff could...
Read moreOK, well I have been to many Parkway taverns across the valley and I will say this one used to be a great place to go. I went to watch the hockey game found a place to sit at a high top bar top table that's mounted to the floor. It is a little bit behind the actual bar but faces the bar so you can see the TVs. I had a few friends show up we ordered food, watch the game and had some beer. Where the pool table is located and where we're sitting was pretty close to each other. We had been there for several hours and at least three different goups who got up to play the game, but this one particular idiot decided to throw a fit! His girlfriend needed to shoot and our chairs were in your way, my buddy and I stood up and moved our chairs out of her way like we had been doing for everyone so she could play. We whent about our business and continued talking. The next thing you know her boyfriend's in my face just pushing me telling me to stop looking at his girls butt! Simply because we stood up to be polite and move out of the way. Security came over and found us to be the aggressor, even though we were the ones trying to move and he was the one pushing and getting in our faces. I'm not sure what happened with the situation, but I talked to the main security Director and I said you are madly mistaken we were being polite and he was punishing us! This type of behavior to allow the aggressor to continue and to push out the patrons who are just being polite to others around them is completely backwards and incorrect! I will never step foot inside this...
Read moreOne of the foods I've been trying to avoid has been pizza. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was empty. It was a nice day out so we opted to sit outside and the sunlight was warm and beautiful. All good.
The menu though, I just could not find anything I want to eat. To be fair, it's not PKWY Tavern's fault. I'm just not a big fan of bar food in general and I should have said something instead of going along with the suggestion to come here. I searched and searched and finally ordered the breakfast pizza, as it sounded the most appetizing out of all the options.
It did look and smell good when it came out. But tasting it, I realized that it was a frozen pizza cooked with a small omelet on top. The taste was not bad but nothing amazing either. But one of the reasons that mainstream American food and pub food like pizza and burgers tastes so good is because it's very bad for you health-wise. I found out the hard way that it was not worth it. I ate half of the pizza (maybe about a 10 inch) and gained 2 pounds! Those that know me can attest that I can eat buckets, like 25 servings of sushi, meat, noodles, mostly anything, and never gain an ounce. But half an entree here and my waistline noticeable expanded. I took the rest of the pizza home only to toss it in the trash. Thank God all the upcoming festivals got cancelled because this is not the way to a rave body and I'm...
