Dear Office of the CEO of Boudin Bakery -- Daniel Giraudo, I want to recognize the beyond-the-call-of-duty Supervisor in your Sunnyvale, CA restaurant: Shawna. In my recent trip a couple of weeks earlier to your Sunnyvale restaurant, I was about to redeem my monthly bread reward under your Loyalty Program. It was around 8:00pm at that time. Shawna told me to save my monthly reward, and redeem another time. Her passion for her job, her kind consideration of her staff, and her love of the customer overwhelmed me. I wanted to get her name to thank her online at Boudin's website, but only remembered when I went back again last week.
I asked Shawna for her name; she said that my thinking of her made her joyous and that was more than she could ask for. But that was not enough for me. I felt so compelled to write to you to let you know that Shawna is a wonderful person, and really cares about her team and the community. It was around 8:45pm, and the store was about to close soon. She was giving away some unsold bread for free to the remaining customers and to homeless who would wander by. She is just terrific, and a phenomenal example of the love and kindness we need more of in our world today.
Thank you for your incredible history in California to provide the great bakery service that is Boudin, and thank you greatly for employing leaders like Shawna.

Read moreCame for dinner with my brother and his wife. We ordered BBQ chicken salad, chicken salad sandwich, bowl of clam chowder and half rib melt and clam chowder in bread bowl. The BBQ salad was good but the chicken sandwich could have improved with more filling. My rib melt had a lot of meat but sandwich was a bit dry. The clam chowder was good. When we came in, we were directed to the self-order checkout and there was no one manning the cash registers. A customer was ahead of us ordering on the self order. We stood in line to be next. As we waited, a couple came in behind us and an employee came to mann the the register. The couple gestured towards us but the employee stated that we were still deciding what to order. We had not spoken to this employee but he could allegedly read our minds. We were ready to order but were waiting for self order as there was no one present at ordering counter. When I encounter such situations, it's a waste of my energy to point out his error. I just make it a point not to give any future patronage to this location. Customer service was lacking and attention to clearing and wiping tables clean did not seem to be a priority even when few customers...
Read moreWe love Boudin sourdough and I've eaten at this location many many times (including 3 times in the last week). However, tonight I had an experience that made me extremely frustrated and made me feel like I wasn't valued as a customer.
My mom & I placed an online order of one pick a pair (soup & sandwich) and one full sandwich. We placed our online order at 7:57pm, without realizing that it was almost 8, their closing time. We drove to the restaurant, and got there at 8:15. My mom walked to the door, where it was locked. An employee approached the door and said that the order came in "too late" and that they had already turned off the grill. She said they cancelled the order and we could go home and request a cancelation and refund.
We received no email that our order was cancelled. Our items didn't require the grill. There is no way for us to cancel our online order on our end. If orders can't be made until 8pm, then the online ordering system shouldn't accept orders. At a time when restaurants are struggling, we were really surprised they refused our business, due to laziness.
