My husband's family have been frequenting Bagelmania in Sunrise since he was a kid. We love it there normally, especially the grits. Its the only place I'll eat them. 5 of us went this morning when it came time to pay my brother in law gave his card and when asked for a tip he said $5 thinking it was a much lower bill. They dont write the total on the bill just what you bought. He asked me can you take care of this I have to take this call and walked out. The cashier started making comments thats not even 10% don't you want to leave $20? I said put the $5 on the card like he said and I planned on leaving the rest in cash from my own pocket. I didn't feel comfortable adding more money to someone else's card. The lady at the register starts being extremely rude and saying things like "i know the service wasnt that bad" and telling the lady next to her and any customer near by "you believe these people $5 on a $102 bill?" They for some reason stopped taking cards manually now they write all of your card information and run it later. At this point I'm embarrassed and fuming we were literally here the week before and never leave a tip less than 20% at any restaurant. All of the waitresses recognize us and even ask about my daughter when she doesnt come with us. Why did she feel the right to push for a larger tip and talk about us to customers and other employees when the transaction wasn't even complete. I left it at the $5 only because of her attitude and I was about to start yelling if I stayed. I still can't believe how we were treated and her entitlement. I know waitresses make nothing and we always tip appropriately. Manager called me and turns out it's the same woman. She was rambling on that I'm lying and never intended to pay the rest in cash and and if I'm embarrassed by the tip that's my problem. She even mentioned the people behind us left a bigger tip to "cover" our tip so she's not going to say she wasn't acting exactly as described or how would they know what we...
Read moreBefore I begin my review, I want to say that I have no affiliation, nor I know anyone that works or owns this place. My review is based on my un-biased new customer experience.
I've recently decided to give this place a try. I have tried a couple of dishes and was really impressed with the portions at a reasonable price. With prices going up... restaurants have been forced to increase their prices which is understandable...however, often they also reduce the portions...which is not the case at this place.
For example, they advertise a 3 egg omelet, but they brought me a plate with what it seems like a 5-6 egg omelet.
I have been served by the same lovely server named Lauren every time I've been to this place. Being a new customer, she provided me with suggestions based on what I was craving and was very patient with me while I looked thru the menu and made my desicion.
She also presented alternatives like telling the cook to make the potatoes crunchier, adding hot water to the milk for my coffee... and making me a fresh cup of coffee to go. These are the little things that go a long way for appreciative customers like me. Lauren, if you read this...Thank you!
I observed other servers, while I was enjoying my food and it seems to me that the owner carefully selects the servers with the same customer service characteristics which is very important to keep a business alive these days.
Granted, in my personal opinion, the place needs a bit of a face lift... to freshen up the place, without taking away its original diner charm, that I was told the loyal customers like.
Overall, I was very impressed with this place and recommend that you give it a try.
I would ask to be served by Lauren but it seems to me you will not go wrong with any of...
