Nautical Bowls — Restaurant in Sunrise

I am in town visiting and was craving an acai bowl. I was so happy there was a nautical bowls near by so I made my way here.

Upon arrival I was not greeted, the girl taking the order just stood and stared at me until I said hello. Next, I started to tell her my order and when I got done she said “wait can you repeat that” so I did and she asked me to repeat it again - she asked me 3 times if I wanted granola and I assured her I did not. I gave her my number for points and she just walked away from the register to go talk to her friends. I asked her if I needed to pay she said “no” … okkkkk is it because I have a free one or? maybe tell me next time?

It took her 17 minutes to make my bowl with 3 things in it and I was the only customer in the store. She was too busy talking to her friends that she also made my bowl wrong and put granola in it. Once she brought it to me I asked why there was granola on it & she said there wasn’t. I then pulled the bowl out of the bag and asked her what this is then. She apologized and went to dump them off and re-add the toppings which took another 10 minutes. She brought me the bowl again and I got to the car and checked and it was missing the honey. So I went back in again and asked her if we could get the order right this time please - she added it and apologized. The bag and napkin were all full of açaí and it got on my clothes.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in a nautical bowls, let alone any establishment. I would NEVER...

I am going to make an assumption that the poor reviews here are some what related to a similar person who had a poor experience. Most of them didn’t even align with the place in general. So I am thinking that they are inaccurate based on their descriptions.

I would say check it out yourself, however, my wife and I had a great experience here this morning. The owner was extremely friendly, not rude to his staff, and he was very helpful.

The place was extremely clean, and the staff took appropriate measures in their food safety.

The atmosphere was on par with the idea/theme of the establishment and was very cute.

I have worked in food/beverage management for over 8 years and it is safe to say that this place is not “disgusting” like some of the reviews state. It is, again, clean, well managed, and a brand new store.

The food itself was wonderful. I appreciated that the owner went in depth to help us and the food had a great taste and consistency for a reasonable price. I have been to many Açaí places where they are inconsistent depending on the person making it and these people seem to know what they are doing. The ingredients were natural, healthy, organic, and some made in house. It was a pleasant experience and I definitely will be back again.
