Been coming to Scojo's for years with family. The food and atmosphere are great, outdoor seating on a nice breezy Labor Day 2025 was perfect. Joined the waitlist online and got the notification that our table was ready so we walked 3 minutes and while walking we missed a phone call from the manager. We got word at 11:58am that our table was ready and while walking and having missed the call, at 12pm our party was removed from the waitlist. So yeah the manager waited all of 2 minutes before removing us from the waitlist and giving the table to someone else. When we got there and apologized for being there at 12:01(3 minutes after the initial message about table being ready) the manager had a very bad attitude and made a big stink like he called and texted numerous times or waited more than 5-10 minutes for us to show up. (I would think parties get 5-10 minutes before the table is just given to someone else but I guess Scojo's is 2 minutes. Then when the manager got us a table, he walked passed us and said in the most disrespectful and grumpy tone, follow me to your table. I really hope he's the manager and not the owner because then at least they can reprimand the cranky manager or find someone that can better represent and know how to talk with people rather than bring his frustrations from home to work. Apart from the disaster of a manager,
The food was delicious as always. We did however find a long hair in the first cut into the pancakes and that immediately killed our appetite so yeah.
For the most part a good experience. Most of our food was delicious and then the hair. And then on top if it all, the manager who we are really hoping is just the manager and not the owner.
For reference it's the man standing behind the counter with the menus and computer with the waitlist, about 5'9", slick back hair, short beard, black-gray hair,...
Read moreWe mostly go to Scojo’s for breakfast and we always sit outside when the weather allows. The waitstaff is friendly, attentive and has knowledge of the menu items to answer any questions. They do have gluten free pancakes which is the main reason we keep going back! Their menu is mainly breakfast, brunch and lunch fare. The hot coffee has been served cold on more than one occasion which I think needs to be addressed. The outside tables and dining area are clean as are the inside tables. Bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The food is served promptly. The wait staff asks if you woukd like refills on your coffee. I always leave with a to go box for my gf pancakes because 1 order is 3 very large and delicious pancakes! I dont know if the pancake (maple?) syrup is gluten free. I bring my own liquid agave sweetener packets with me for my coffee and my pancakes. My husband orders the largest breakfast platter they offer or the skillet breakfast item. The skillet is amazing. Its a lot of food and could probably be shared. The prices are in line for breakfast dining out on LBI. During the busy season on the island there could be a wait for a table. I do wish they stayed open later in the day. They are only...
Read moreI hate to do it Scojos but I have to say this time was not my favorite here. I get it, you want to increase your seating capacity and expand the inside to the outside. However sticking customers in a dirty parking lot under a tent in 90 degree heat is not working and created an awful breakfast experience.
I believe this restaurant is under new ownership and the menu pretty much stayed the same, they painted the outside of the building white and kept inside the same. However in order to increase patronage which I get, they added an event tent on the side parking lot outside the backdoor of the kitchen. This is all well in good except in cases where its 95 degrees under the tent, the lot is sort of nasty with exposed trash and deliveries and nasty puddles of sewage and the staff looks hot and miserable and there are no fans. Stick with the inside, cooled off part and don't bother with the outside.
Another thing I will keep from my original review, change up the recipe of your home fries. They looks dismal and they are tasteless and pitiful. The food is otherwise not bad, prices are still outrageous ($16 bucks for a couple of eggs and toast?). Not sure I would...
