My sister introduced me to Tom Yum well over a year ago. Though, up until today I ordered the same entree (apart from two dishes I only tried once because nothing ever beats their amazing tofu curry). I’ve been pretty under the weather and was craving Pho. Unfortunately no Pho places deliver BUT Tom Yum does carry Pho. While I personally did not like theirs (though I’m going to say this is entirely my fault for asking for mild to no spice, which obviously changes the flavor and will make other ingredients stand out more) it was very lemony, and while I couldn’t personally eat it, my brother loved it!
My mans ordered crab puffs and the drunken noodles with beef. He liked both which was a shocker because he is an incredibly picky eater. He gave the crab puffs a 10/10 rating and said that the drunken noodles had the perfect amount of flavor. (I sampled a noodle as I didn’t eat my meal as stated before and I can definitely vouch that it is flavorful and delicious.)
We also ordered the veggie rolls which are always delicious.
We order through grubhub as we are out of the delivery range and don’t at all mind waiting for food when we are unavailable to dine in or pick it up ourselves.
Though it’s a good 20 minute commute, everything was still hot when it got here and the appetizers were still perfectly crispy!
Even though I wasn’t a fan of the pho (as I said probably my fault for asking them to tweak it) Tom Yum is hands down one of THE BEST restaurants in surprise. I’d rate it in the top 5 and will definitely be going back, but will probably continue to order my regular for a while before branching out to try...
Read moreHorrible experience!!! I've ordered take out before, and enjoyed the food. Considering that my "Go To" is the House Combination Fried rice, it's not hard to screw this up. Tonight, I suggested this place to my neighbor, and we went. They were beyond slammed in there, but we grabbed the last deuce, and waited for someone to come. About 10 minutes later, a guy came up and gave us a menu. There was a to go menu on the table. Five minutes after we ordered tea and a beer. Observing the other patrons I understood that the cooks and other service persons (a total of 3 for 14 tables) were far beyond the weeds. Our meal was mediocre, although my guest found a little pleasure in her two appetizers. The calamari batter made her dish look like a mountain of mini donuts with a sliver of linguine (the calamari!!!) hiding inside, the peanut/coconut dipping sauce, non- descript and watery. I was embarrassed to have told her this was my recommendation... I asked for broccoli and pork, but got a chicken dish. Disappointed. I understand that it's the rush hour, and the kitchen is dealing with fixing food for dine and dash, to go customers, and the dine in customers, but they were painfully understaffed and their customers suffered this discrepancy. I won't be returning to this location, and will go to the Bell Road store alone before I invite a date for what I thought was Bomb...
Read moreThis place is nice. The food is good, it’s not over the top wonderful, but very serviceable.
The service is a bit lacking, water glasses not refilled as promptly as I’d prefer, generally no check back for satisfaction with your meal. Perhaps the dining room is run a bit lean.
You won’t be sorry you ate here, food quality is decent. Some very good Tom Kah Ghi soup and Pad Thai.
10/17/24 — Not good anymore. This was previously a 4 star review, but I cannot recommend anyone paying actual money to eat here. No lunch specials, you’re paying full dinner prices for lunch.
I ate lunch here on Tuesdayand haven’t been so dissatisfied in a long time. Ordered larb (chicken) salad. It’s supposed to be served cold, chilled in fact. The chicken was warm, to the point the lettuce melted. Sad Panda. Then came my Pad Thai. Again very disappointed. No scrambled egg, nothing green in the dish at all. Pad Thai shouldn’t taste like ketchup, do better!!! Did get a heap of peanuts and bean sprouts with Lemon ( lime is customary.) had to request an iced tea refill, served with lemon, but no sweeteners offered.
The staff doesn’t care about service. Or food quality. Save yourself the frustration, much better Thai food in Phoenix.
The one noteworthy thing is they finally remodeled the men’s room, it no longer smells of...
