Loved the Angry Ramen.
This past weekend we at here again. Here is my review and the reason my rating has dropped to a '3'.
This is the 2nd time within a month of eating here. We had a party of 8 this time, and it took a bit to get the tables ready. No big deal. The waitress' name, we'll refer to her as 'J'. We got seated, she took our orders for drinks in short order. Good service so far. I and another fellow ordered a Sapporo on draft.
Here is problem #1: The beer was delivered cool, not cold. I had asked the waitress to ask the bartenders as to what temperature the cooler where the beer kegs are kept, was set at? She returned and said, "the bartenders said it is set where it is supposed to be." I looked at her, with an "and"? expecting a number to divulged. Nada. She didn't offer to pour me another beer, or get a cold bottled one to replace this one that was not cold. Nichts. She brought me an iced pint glass to pour my current beer into it, to make the beer colder. REALLY?
Problem #2: When the check was rung up, she brought it to me, and my son-in-law offered to split it with me. Ok, that's cool. I asked 'J' to split up the check, and her response, "oh, I would have to void out this sale and re-ring it up", with a certain tone of annoyance in her attitude and voice. Ok, I should have probable asked for the manager, but just decided to take care of it on the whole. The was an entry, due to our party size labled, "manual gratuity", otherwise an already included tip. The usual for a party of 6 or more. It wasn't 15% but with her attitude to not go the extra mile and do some simple things, she was not going to get any more out of me!
Now on the Positive Side: the food....was good, very good! At least the kitchen was on top of their game. I did have the Angry Kimchi Ramen which was the bomb! Everyone else's dish was delicious! This is really the only true positive that I can give on this place.
'J' may have been new, a bit overworked, I don't know. Due to her attitude, and no real offers or desire to satisfy the customer, even with a simple question being answered or a check being split even though after the fact, I probably won't go back.
This should not discourage anyone from trying this place. It is good. The selections of meals, sushi, etc are prepared and plated in a very professional manner. Perhaps this was just an off-night for our waitress.
I could have given a 5 for the food, a 3 for the bar & a 2-1/2 for the service (inclusive) given by the waitress. Perhaps I am being a bit...
Read moreHusband and I love coming here for happy hour! Great deals! Our 7 year old is obsessed with coming here too, although she sticks to edamame and rice mostly. We have tried a couple of sushi spots within the Surprise area and this is by far the best sushi spot to go to for happy hour. We tried another sushi spot off of Bell to get new scenery and try something different but it costed us $70 for 4 sushi rolls, a side of white rice, and edamame on happy hour! At Uni, we never spend more than $55 for even more food than the other local place we tried. We also tried Tokyo Joes since it had amazing reviews but that is nothing compared to Uni sushi. I was greatly disappointed since it had rest reviews I was expecting more. Needles to say we will be making this our go to sushi spot! Only thing I wish is that they would add more to their happy hour menu like salmon teriyaki or other items besides sushi and appetizers to give us a little more variety and incentive to come back when we are drained of the same happy hour sushi specials.
Don’t forget to ask for the Uni stamp card if you are a sushi lover.
Overall: great place within the immediate...
