First time me and my SO have been here, have heard good things about it from multiple people, so decided to go. Mind you, my SO is a chef so when we go somewhere new to eat, he is looking at everything. We were seated right away which was nice, but the tables are a little close together- which isn’t a huge deal or anything, it’s not a large restaurant. Whoever sat us though I guess forgot to put us in rotation because we sat there with not even a water while the table next to us who sat after us was already getting food. Not a good start. The first thing of chips was greasy and old, but the second batch was much better. Salsa is delicious. We both ordered tacos(he got pollo, I got barbacoa) and he asked for a couple things on the side which he asked for twice and they never brought out. He was also supposed to have pico and guac on the side of his and he never got those with the dish. Also got asked what side order I wanted after my tacos came out and never got that either. Why ask me if you aren’t going to bring it out anyway? The tacos were good, but a little light on the protein. Was hard enough getting anyone to pay attention to us. One server even asked if we had eaten yet after our plates were taken away. We had three different people come to our table while we were there so a lot of miscommunication. The place is nice, the food is decent, but the staff is young and inexperienced. I would try it again if the service improves. After dinner talked to some friends who have been there also(not the ones who recommended it)and they said the same thing about...
Read moreWent into Don Bonachon around 11:30 a.m on St. Patrick’s Day. We were the first table in there and the service was the worst I think I’ve ever gotten anywhere. I couldn’t tell you the servers name, because she never told us. Our food came out and I just needed some hot sauce quick and she just kept making eye contact with me from the kitchen while eating something and then scurrying away to still not come and check on us. The hostess and bartender ended up coming over to pre bus the table. And at this point, there were 3 other tables in there with us so it wasn’t busy or I’d be way more understanding, being that I’m in the service industry myself. We then sat for another 10 minutes after our plates were cleared and we were very obviously done, for her to bring our check. But she didn’t. I had to go and stand at the bar and wait for her to come and ask what I needed. The hostess was the one to then drop the check. We paid and left. The food was okay for the price we paid, but the service alone is the reason I won’t be returning. I can understand service not being top tier if the restaurant is super busy, but this was the...
Read moreI gotta say, I just adore Don Bonachon so much, y’all. I don’t have my own vehicle right now and not only DB is my ride-or-die Mexican restaurant period, they’re also killer on delivery every single time. I’ve never had an incorrect order and my food has always been immaculate. This past week and a half I’ve been recovering from COVID, haven’t had much of an appetite, and I desperately wanted a good, hearty, warming soup…y’all, Don Bonachon had me covered. I ordered thinking I wanted “more than a cup, so I should probably get a large instead of a small,” and let me tell you. 32oz of the best chicken tortilla soup I’ve ever had in my entire life showed up on my doorstep. I’ve been eating this soup for three days now like it’s my life’s blood. Tastes like happiness and love. I’m so glad I have this wonderful restaurant nearby enough for delivery, and I can’t wait to visit in person once I’ve got reliable transportation again. Until then, please keep being wonderful, and tell the kitchen I said thank you for helping keep me alive this...
