I moved to the area a few months ago, this place has been my go to liquor store since moved to the area and I would consider myself a regular. My typical go to is bourbon since they have a great selection. My issue is their customer service, or should I say lack of it. Do not think you’ll get the same service as you would at a Total Wine or a family run liquor store. It’s a very “get what you need and get the f out” type of establishment. I can to deal with it as I would just come in, get what I need and get out but the root cause for this review is due to a specific item, Goose Island Bourbon County Stout.
Any beer lover or beer enthusiast knows about this beer and its special release date, Black Friday. It’s been released on the same day nationwide for decades. Since I’m new to the area, I wasn’t familiar with the release so I called a couple weeks ahead of time and spoke with a gentleman that was well familiar with Bourbon County, it’s variants and release date. I wish I could remember his name but he was very kind and gave me the 411 on it’s Black Friday release and told me to call back a week before so they can tell me which variants they will carry. This was great and very helpful.
Fast forward to a week before, I call and whoever I spoke with told me to check in on Monday. No problem called back Monday and was told again to call back Wednesday that’s when they will get it in. Called back Wednesday, was told to check back Friday which is release day. Not sure why the run around on something so simple but I can tell from the persons voice they were very irritated by the simple question.
Today is Black Friday, I get to the store right as they open and walk in and cannot find Bourbon County anywhere. I ask a woman for help and she just sends me off to the beer area with never hearing about Bourbon County. Afterwards I found someone in one of the aisles and asked about Bourbon County and he seemed to not know anything about it. He was so irritated by me asking questions about it he turned his back and walked away. A customer is trying to buy something and you refuse to look at me and walk away? I’ve never encountered such rudeness from a clerk before I stormed off and called the store. Whoever I spoke with didn’t seem to care, said he knows nothing about it and eventually hung up on me mid talking.
I know this review will not make a difference but no one should be mistreated for wanting to spend money at your place of business. I typically buy cases of this stuff during the release and will easily spend $300+ but now all my business will be...
Read moreI don't drink very often. We're entertaining this weekend and need some different types of alcohol in case some of our guests do. Most of our friends are fitness and health minded, so I needed to find some different flavors that were lower carb/lower sugar that weren't rum and vodka. I had a question about Brandy and Cognac. I was not only pointed in the right direction, but introduced to someone that explained how to drink it traditionally, what glasses to use, how to mix it if our guests MUST have a mixed drink, and how to present it with multiple presentations for different types of occasions. Some people may know what pairs with what, but I don't drink enough to be an afficionado. So, this meant a lot to us. We were guided to something that fit our guests needs (zero carb - not because carbs are bad, but just because some of our guests might have different diets that don't allow for carbs at this particular time of year) that could be sipped in the proper glasses or mixed with different popular mixers and their ratios. Then, instead of guiding us to the most expensive option. .. We were guided to the second cheapest they had on hand and told why he suggested it for our specific situation and an explanation as to why we should start with this particular brand with the expectation that IF we approve upon tasting, what to expect from higher end Brandy/Cognac and it's cousins. I've been to liquor stores all over the Southeastern Region of the US and I've never had someone listen or be this helpful outside...

I had a deeply disturbing experience at Suwanee Top Shelf beverage. On a previous visit, a male employee with a ponytail pushed a shopping cart into the store and struck me directly on my knee, which has a surgical metal plate. He never apologized or checked to see if I was okay.
On a later visit, the same employee yelled at me loudly in front of customers after being told (falsely) by a female employee that I was rude. He shouted “Do not serve her,” and other staff members joined in — creating a hostile and humiliating scene.
The same female employee regularly sits on the counter, uses profanity in front of customers, and was the one I was forced to go through for checkout again — despite being the source of the false accusation.
Management witnessed all of this and did nothing. I left the store feeling completely disrespected, targeted, and unwelcome.
If you are a person of color or simply want to be treated with basic dignity, I strongly urge you to take your business elsewhere. Your money should be spent where...
