I have ordered from this establishment for almost a decade. In the past 3 years this place has gone down hill. The service & food lack quality & taste nowadays, and it's overpriced. The food is extremely salty, and not fresh like it used to be. This was never the case years ago. The last 3 consecutive orders have been handled wrong:
Order 1— they forgot to bag 2 dishes I ordered. Order 2— they forgot to bag 2 dishes I ordered. Order 3— they forgot to bag 1 dish I ordered.
This is not only an inconvenience, but a disappointment. When I tried getting a refund for Order 1, I didn't receive the entire refund. I let that go as it was only off by a couple of dollars. I simply didn't want the hassle of having to call up there again. Order 2, I asked for a refund, but the manager/owner told me to just come back and pick it up. I said, “No, I'm home. I don't live in Suwanee anymore. I Iive over 20 miles away. I cannot just swing by”. He then proceeded to exclaim that he'll give me future credit for my next purchase. I said, “No, I want my money back”. I was refunded correctly on this order. Order 3 was very recent, as of late May 2023, I had a delivery order sent to my in-laws who live in Suwanee, and yet again a dish was missing. I called up the restaurant; they apologized. However, they wouldn't/couldn't send anyone to deliver the missing plate to my in-laws who live two miles down the road from Grandma's. Fine. So, I received a refund for the missing order and that was that.
I will not order from Grandma's again. It's a shame that the food & service is not good anymore (compared to what they used to be). If food at any restaurant is ever too salty, it's because low quality ingredients are being used. It's easier and cheaper to over-salt food than it is to use fresh herbs and spices. I know this restaurant has become extremely busy with all the growth in Suwanee over the years. Unfortunately, when growth occurs, quality suffers. I wish them luck. If you want a legit pizza, go to Antico's in Alpharetta. If you want a NY Style Pizza, a few joints come somewhat close, but it's not the real thing. I've been living in GA for 30 years, but nothing beats a pie straight out of a...
Read moreI tried this place for the first time this past week. My family is always interested in trying new places and we especially love pizza and Italian food. We got it to go, but we only live maybe 3 minutes from the restaurant, so the quick trip to the house should not have affected anything. We ordered one of their specialty pizzas as is with no modifications and we ordered a 2 topping custom pizza. My husband also ordered some buffalo wings. The specialty pizza looked amazing, was in great shape for to go, and we were excited to try it. The crust was crispy and as it should be, but the entire pizza had absolutely no flavor. I really mean that, like there was no flavor at all. It was like eating cardboard. The modified custom order pizza for my daughter looked horrendous when we opened the box. It was supposed to be pepperoni and extra cheese. But there were hardly any pepperonis on the pizza at all, you could count them at quick glance and the cheese had moved all over to one side leaving the other side of the pizza completely bare except for sauce. Looks like maybe it had been dropped. I love a thin crust pizza, but on that one the crust was paper thin and completely soggy, so you couldn't even pick up a slice to eat it. I made it through 1 slice and so did my daughter, both of us eating it with a fork, before we gave up and threw it away. The buffalo wings also looked great, smelled good, and my husband was excited to try them. But same story there, the flavor was just missing. I don't know what happened. We chose this place because of the awesome comments and reviews. I'm not sure if they had an off night or new employees, but it was a horrible experience with their food for us. Nothing we ordered was edible and we threw the majority of everything out and wasted...
Read more10/3/2021 Update: My wife place a delivery order with these people this evening...And the Door Dash person delivered the wrong order for somebody else from Green Basil! She finally came back and retrieved this misdelivered order...But our pizza order went into complete limbo! My wife called Grandma's Pizza and they told her for her to call Door Dash...Which is NOT POSSIBLE as she ordered via mobile without an account! So no pizza and yet my wife has been charged for the order! The nasty people at Grandma's are absolutely no help whatsoever! And just try calling Door Dash...NOT POSSIBLE!!! Reducing my star rating here to ONE STAR! I've told my wife NEVER to order from these nasty people ever again! Nor ever use Door Dash ever again!
The pizza here is so-so to average. I've had worse and better pizza. Except the deep dish which is really not good at all! The problem with it is the pasty white too much flour and too little water "how cheap can you make pizza dough?" crust. I just can't eat it! And I think that it's probably the worse pizza crust that I've encountered! Frozen supermarket pizza has better crust than this! I think that this restaurant, which recently relocated down the strip mall to a small store evidently because of COVID-19 lockdown sales problem (other stores went out of business!), really needs to re-assess their deep dish pizza crust and replace it with something decent. We've scratched this place off our list of restaurants and pizza. Here's to hoping that they improve rather than cheapen their ingredients...Which is a mistake some other restaurants are making now...
