I can’t rave enough about Hen’s and Honey from the moment I walked in to the moment we left it was a great awesome experience from the cashier to the baristas to the young lady that brought out our coffee flights is was an overall great experience. We went especially for the coffee flights and they did not disappoint. We arrived this past Saturday 1/21 at 9:20am and waited in the car until 9:45am because they do not start the flights until 10:00am. We went in and got a table (only two tables were left at 9:50am and YOU MUST HAVE A TABLE IN ORDER TO DRINK THE FLIGHTS) and I went up to line to order. Got up to order and it was 9:55am and they took our order a couple minutes early for our flights and said it would be a 45 minute wait; no worries at all especially since it was well publicized that they are made to order and can take a bit to prep. Got our flights at 10:20am and by that time the line was almost out the door. We enjoyed our coffee flights (which were scrumptious by the way) and left at 11:00am hopped up on caffeine and ready to tackle day lol. We even asked if two other people would join us so they had a table to have their flights at (great way to make friends btw) but they were ordering to go and appreciated the hospitality that we showed. I was disappointed to see the amount of people that were leaving empty handed (probably because they were going to have to wait 2 hours for the coffee flights) when they have such awesome coffees (hot and ice) and lattes (hot and ice) along with baked goods (donuts and bagels) to go. If we were unable to the coffee flights I would have bought something to go for sure (especially after standing in the long line to order). Please visit this quaint yet cozy and picturesque coffee shop but get...
Read moreAn update for after the owners response:
You’re very accusatory in all of your responses. Instead, try being apologetic. In no way we’re either of us upset. In fact, I said “We did look online and we know but just wanted to clarify!” I came prepared to wait with my book and everything. I think it is time to take some accountability or just don’t respond at all.
Original review:
Just left and I was excited to go here because I’ve been waiting for jersey to finally have a place with coffee flights. Yes- I went for the instagram worthy flight of coffee and plus, I am a huge coffee lover.
I was super pumped to come here but the first thing I heard when I walked in was the owner saying “I’m sure we will get some Karen’s today.” I just find this so weird especially from an owners mouth in front of customers.
Additionally, I was there with my girlfriend and we both felt a little unwelcome. Although nothing specific was said to make us feel this way, it was seen in the way we were addressed (curtly, standoffish, etc) in comparison to how others were greeted (enthusiastically, kindly, etc.)
I did see a review below that said people of color should avoid coming here. While I am not a person of color, I will not give my business to a place that makes people of color (or other marginalized groups) feel uncomfortable.
The coffee itself wasn’t anything special. The presentation was not close to the best I have seen.
So yes, today, i’ll be your “Karen” because just because a video of your flights went viral and you may be offering something we don’t have a lot of in New Jersey … doesn’t mean you’re deserving of the business you’re...
Read moreMy wife and I are on the #eatjersey challenge to visit and have a meal in all 564 towns of NJ. We chose Hens & Honey Shoppe for Swedesboro, our 136th town.
We had seen this place pop up on our social media feeds, and couldn't wait to try it when we came to town. (Check out their Instagram for great coffee pics and the funny Reels the crew makes.) Valerie & the H&H team exceeded expectations! First off, the shop itself is a work of art with lots of insta-photo-friendly decor.
The iced coffee flight is a must. It's what we came for. We got to try the Fall Special line up (Jack O, Pecan Lane, Flannel Jacket, and Harvest Moon).
It's not just a coffee shop though. The gourmet toasts they offer make for some of the most unique & delicious breakfast or brunch options I've seen. We tried the Smoked Salmon and Bourbon Sweet Honey toasts. WOW! Each of these were a party in our mouths. If we lived close enough, we'd come back more often to try all the toasts out!
The place gets busy, so you might have a wait, but it's WELL worth it.
Disclaimer: I'm writing this review almost a year after we first visited, and the shop has expanded to a larger space in the same plaza that looks just as cool. Can't wait to swing by again between visits to other towns our next time in Gloucester county! (As of Oct 2024, 243 Jersey towns...
