Latteria — Restaurant in Swedesboro

Okay, so this afternoon (5/8/25) my taste buds were screaming for some ice cream. My usual safe selection (vanilla) is always my "go to." I'm usually a "Plain Jane" when it comes to trying different or new flavors because my experience hasn't always been favorable at some places, then there's the cost of paying for ice cream flavors that didn't measure up to their hype!!

However, today I decided to try somewhere new since I was visiting my daughter in Swedesboro, NJ. I Googled the nearest ice cream "parlor," I know I'm dating myself since no one uses that term anymore, right? Nod to my grandma!! ☺️

The first hit was "Latteria" so I scrolled down to the reviews which were very impressive with only good things to say about their homemade ice and the service. When I arrived at the door a customer who was leaving held the door for me so I asked her if the ice cream was good. With a BIG SMILE😊 on her face she said oh yessss!! I've never tasted anything like it and she began to share that her friends came all the way from Philly to get Latteria's ice cream!!

The various reviews didn't lie either when they said the workers were very friendly, because as I approached the counter to place my order, a very pleasant young lady named "Morgan" greeted me with the same BIG SMILE 😊 the previous customer gave me!! Morgan asked if she could help me and was very pleasant and engaging throughout. I asked how long Latteria was in business and she said for 13 years!!!

I intended to get ice cream and head home but when I tasted the strawberry (which I rarely get because of the previous missteps I encountered from other stores,) I couldn't stop eating my strawberry and vanilla mixed ice cream...soooo very tasty, creamy, not too sweet, but just right!! I'm m actually looking at the bottom of my cup, now!!!

Obviously, Latteria is doing something right, because as I walked to my car alot of people we're parking their cars and heading (w/kids also) to Latteria!!!

I will definitely come back and also intend to share my experience with my friends and family!!

Thanks Latteria for renewing my love for strawberry ice cream like no other establishment did; and thank you "Morgan" for your superb Customer Service skills!! 🤗

Respectful Suggestion: Please make your signage outside LARGER, because the whole world needs to be able to see your name on Woodstown Road, Swedesboro, NJ....

Latteria has a large selection of dipped ice cream flavors. They are cash only which limited the amount of stuff I could buy (was hoping to get ice cream for everyone and a pint or two to take home). When I entered I was the only customer there which I thought would help take the pressure off of deciding what to get, however, the girl "helping" me wasn't very helpful. Prices and info about some of the flavors were written sporadically on a chalk board which was hard to focus on with the amount written. When I asked a question about a flavor the girl rolled her eyes and never answered the question. She told me if I was unsure about what flavor to get I should order a small cone of every flavor. I asked what "Rich & Famous" flavor was and another girl behind the counter responded and also told me about a flavor called "Memphis". With her help I bought 2 pints of those flavors, and both were delicious. The girl at the counter actually waiting on me didn't seem to want to be there or be bothered. This afternoon around 4:00 PM, I visited the shop, which I’ve been coming to since it opened. It’s usually a great experience, but today felt very different.

While one young lady was helping with my first order, I took about a minute to look over the flavors for my second. I hadn’t been in for about six months, and since the shop often rotates flavors, I wanted to see what was new. Despite this, another young lady jumped in with an impatient attitude, as if I was taking too long even though there were only two people being helped ahead of me and no one behind me.

I felt rushed and uncomfortable, and ended up choosing something I didn’t really want just to get it over with. That’s not the kind of service I’ve come to expect from a place I’ve supported since the beginning.

I’m only sharing this because I care about the shop and hope the friendly, welcoming atmosphere can be preserved.
