Good Evening Google Family. Mom and I always patronize the Aston Diner every week.. But I decided on going someplace different today. Mom wanted to go to the Aston Diner. I told her next week we will. This is Mom's and I first time here. Probably our last. The people who work here are very congenial. Our server. M and M was very nice. However I did not feel like I belonged here. The area reminds me of Amish Country. Very quaint, very quiet. I bet no crime happens here. Anyway, Mom orders her same broiled tilapia and I ordered the broiled scallops. We both ordered the chicken soup. I had applesauce and sweet potato fries. Mom ordered baked potato and applesauce. It turned out that she did not want the baked potato, she meant to order mashed potatoes, just lke I thought. Our food was good, however the applesauce tasted like cinnamon applesauce and I am not too fond of cinnamon applesauce, because it is usually too sweet. We didn't want any drinks, since we have to go to the bathroom too much. Our bill was $45.75. However, since I had the 15% discount keychain, it was less money. Hallelujah!!!! Of course, we visited the bathroom twice and it was clean. The people there, the employees were so nice, always holding the door for my mom. We received red carpet treatment just like at Aston. What I was ticked off about was that I forgot to get the check. I always keep the check for my records to take a picture to post on Google, but I forgot that. Also, I was not thrilled that I forgot to ask about our desserts. We were supposed to get a choice of jello or pudding. But our server never mentioned that. I called when we were almost home, thats when I remembered and asked about the desserts. I called Swedesboro Diner and we were supposed to get desserts and we did not get them. I was so ticked off!! The lady said she was not our server so she would have said something. That didn't make me feel any better. She said we could come back and get our desserts today. Mom and I agreed that it is too far of a drive. I was not at all thrilled at this point. I decided to call Aston Diner when I arrived home and explain the situation to them. I did and they said I could get my desserts whenever we came in. I felt so much better. After all, they are all owned by the same people. Aston, Folcroft, Swedesboro and Falcon, all owned by the same people. I then spoke with Edward, our regular server and I assured him that we would be there next week. Good night,...
Read moreTLDR: Good food, slow and careless unsanitary service!! Stopped here on a trip, so we were unfamiliar with the area. Saw good ratings so why not.... Full version: Food was good. Took a long while but the food was the best part. So we arrived a little before 7 and stood there for 10 minutes before being acknowledged. It was lively but there were several open tables and nobody else in line. Didn't know if we were supposed to seat ourselves. Our family of 4 was given 2 placemats and no silverware, you know the knife-fork-napkin roll. After we ordered, had to ask 2x for the kid's meals' included drinks. After we ordered it got filled to capacity while we waited and waited. I ask for 2 other place settings since there are four of us (mind you still no napkin-rolled silverware yet) and another waitress tells our waitress she has a napkin stuck to the bottom of her shoe.... She takes off the dirty napkin throws it away and then immediately gets our placemats! Now then and there was there finally urgency to set our table? Real sanitary!! After finally getting our food we have to ask 2x more for the waitress to give us napkins and forks to eat. We settled on only getting 2 napkin-rolled silverware because my son had spaghetti and the rest of us had sandwiches but I'd have preferred to use a fork to clean my plate instead of my fingers. It was pulling teeth to get an extra couple napkins too.
Added a star from 1 to 2 since nobody got food poisoning from unclean hands touching the floor. When we left we realized the kids didn't get their included kids meal desserts but I wasn't going back inside to argue. Staff needs some refresher lessons in...
Read moreNot sure what flavor profiles people are use to, and by all means I am no famous food critic but the food here needs a lot of work. Nothing anyone at my table had was above average. The coffee was not hot, the fried flounder was awful, (I'm not one to return food that's subpar because you never know what you get back) the bread on the burger was very dense (dry/end of its shelf life), the waitress seemed a bit disinterested in servicing, there was a smell where we sat of urine( I could be wrong) not sure of we sat next to the bathroom or what it was. Overall unpleasant experience, $60 dollars not worth it folks. Again everyone had different expectations and I know it's not an upscale joint, but I do expect to be satisfied with the food and overall experience and I we left disappointed. Note to managment ( look at your menu, maybe minimize it, put more effort in the ways things are made, food flavor, ambiance and decor, any smells that are not of food.. needs work. I can't say I will return but hope this helps future customers and be a conversation for the...
