Where to begin... The menu... Small selection of very expensive food. The menu was elastic banded to a plank of heavy dark stained wood. If you needed to defend yourself this thing would likely deflect a bullet or easily knock someone out.
As for the food I ordered the $9 crab bisque and the $15 roast beef sandwich. I assumed I was in for a culinary delight at those prices but was sorely mistaken.
The bisque had a main ingredient of salt which overpowered the bisque. Once you got past the salt it had a nice finish. There was ample crab in it and had a nice creamy flavor.
The roast beef sandwich wasn't anything special either. The scant amount of meat on it was rediculous for the price of the sandwich. The meat was on the dry side. The sandwich didn't come with au jus and had to be requested. The au jus was very light in color and had hardly any flavor. There was supposed to be some sort of horse radish cream sauce on it but I couldn't taste it. I asked for some horse radish and doctored it up. (If you want a great roast beef sandwich for half the price and twice the quality go see Joe the beef guy at Tom and Jerry's on Macdade Blvd in PA.) The only redeeming part of this meal was the home made potato chips. We also ordered the home made fries as well. Both were well seasoned and delicious. To put this sandwich into perspective I've had a $16 hamburger from Ted's Montana Grill in Christiana that was 10x's better than this roast beef.
My wife had the $18 lobster and crab mac and cheese. It arrived in the same size bowl as my son's kids meal mac and cheese. It was extremely small for an $18 appetizer. The cavatopi pasta on top was dry almost burnt with next to no cheese in the top two inches of the pasta. My wife eventually found the cheese and seafood buried at the bottom of the bowl. Once mixed it still wasn't good. Actually it was horrible. My son's $9 kids Mac and cheese with $2 bacon bits added to it was delicious and flavorful! All they had to do was add the seafood to that dish and it would have been good. I honestly can't say anything good about it. If you love lobster Mac and cheese go to Carney's in Cape May and try theirs. It's easily double the size, a few dollars cheaper, and amazingly delicious!
Our waitress was good. She was pleasant and attentive to our needs.
Bottom line... The quality and quantity of food does not warrant the prices they charge. There are far better restaurants in the local area for...
Read moreAnother update. 12/13/23 Service was great. Burgers were EXCELLENT !! Drinks are really really disappointing. Winter white Cosmo was sort of like lime flavored water. I could not detect any booze, white cranberry or sweetness. Drinks have sucked for 4 years. Selection sounds great. Multiple bartenders so it must be Management dictating how to make the drinks. What a shame.
UPDATED REVIEW 10/25/19 OK, word on the street was they changed back to the burgers they way they use to be. Went tonight and was not disappointed with the burger ! Very good. GREAT BRIOCHE BUN! Great blue cheese burger and fries. The grind and gentle handling of the burger made an otherwise not great meat , very good. Could be phenomenal with a better grade of beef to start, was a bit grisly both mine and my wife's. Overall a good experience and will be back. Other thoughts....my "16 ounce Bone Saw IPA" wasnt even 12 ounces. The entrees on the menus look 25% too expensive, thats why Ive never ordered one. Desserts on the other hand ! Wow! Looked Amazing ! Didnt test the bartender but watching her...she looks like she really knows what she is doing. Our waiter was very good!
Original review Service is green. Burgers, fries, homemade chips are great. Cocktail selection is very good, cocktails themselves, ehhhh, i guess it depends on the bartender. My Old Fashioned was very diluted, wasnt asked what whiskey, and it was muddled and dirty, guess I should have specified that i didnt like it that way. Prices, about 20 or 25% TOO high IMO. The prices keep me away from the entrees.
Update 2/13/19 Prices still 20 to 25% way too high for almost any entree. Burgers were good but some numbskull changed the menu and dropped most burgers from this Pub's menu!! And they lost the brioche buns which made the burgers! Cocktails here seem creative but are VERY weak and timid! Either way, over diluted or someone needs to stand closer to the booze when mixing. Disappointing and feels way over priced. Wait staff...
Read moreNot Impressed I was excited to give this place a try. Something new in town is always exciting, right? Well unfortunately I was not overly hungry when we went so I figured I would settle on an appetizer for dinner. The choices were ok...a little pricey...but I guess these days that's just the norm.... I decided on the Lobster Crab Mac N Cheese....it was ok. I have had way better. It was 18.00 and was not really a size you would share nor was it a size that I would have as an appetizer all to myself before a meal. Definitely not worth getting again in my opinion. Our bill with the tip was over $100.00 We had no alcohol and two or three of us had water. We had two roast beef sandwiches. A bowl of soup, a meatless salad a kid's Mac N cheese (we added bacon bits) and my lobster Mac N Cheese, oh and an order of fries. The Roast beef sandwich came with homemade kettle chips that were tasty. I took a bite of my husband's sandwich...kind of dry and well nothing really to write home about. The homemade fries were tasty but had no crisp to them at all. Very disappointing for the price. However, I liked the way the place looked...dark wood..kind of cozy. I would have probably enjoyed hanging at the bar as a local place if I still hung out at bars...it may be a nice place for a date...there wasn't loud music or other noises. You could definitely have a conversation. It looked like they had a nice selection of Alcoholic beverages, but I didn't really pay that close attention. So while we probably won't go back for a while...well, I, won't be going back for a while...my husband says "never", the place is pretty new and so maybe they will adjust as they grow. Calamari was on the menu...I think it was $15....I love some good calamari...and maybe... perhaps... theirs might...
