So I have a few things to say about this place. first off, love the concept. family friendly and dog friendly beer and wine bar that has games for the whole family or for friends trying to just to get out. especially nice if you have friends with obligations that can't normally get out of the house.
Now for my issues. All that luxury comes at a steep price. almost everything is about $2.00 higher than anywhere else ranging from $6 - $8 for a drink. Some would argue that you can get a canned beer for $2 (that's the least expensive) out of the large refrigerator, but there is a catch, if your selection is under $5 then they will charge you an additional $2 for an "uncorking fee". yes. that means you have to pay an extra $2 just for them to open your can of beer each time you want to get one.
As far as food goes, they have a rotating food truck (the wood fire pizza truck was great) that is various days, but they dont serve food themselves. I can only assume that is because of the fact that they allow pets inside. If they got rid of that uncorking fee I would consider going back, just because of the atmosphere. With that being said they are still on the...
Read moreJust moved to the area and decided to walk over to for a drink. Beer Star is kid friendly (dogs too) which isn’t something everyone is looking for but its not crawling with kids either. But, I have a teenage son who I drag out of the house with me and he was able to enjoy root beer on tap 🙌 Its not a “bar” but more people who want to enjoy a good brew. Definitely a huge grab and go selection as well. Im not a big beer drinker anymore and I drink mostly ciders. However, while they have plenty of cider options, I was feeling adventurous so the man working behind the counter was able to recommend a couple sour IPAs that were amazing (and not “sour”). I would have guessed they were a drier cider! Great place to check out but even more so if you want to try new things in the ever evolving world of beer and explore...
Read moreFound this place randomly about six months ago and my wife and I fell in love with it. Staff was chill, vibe was good, etc. We decided to grab a couple beers over the weekend and we saw a new guy with long braids at the helm. He had an attitude about the "old manager," and this aire about him that was uncomfortable. It all of a sudden felt like one of those typical places on 6th Ave where you need to be a certain age or know enough about beer to visit the place. It was an absolute turnoff and while we are planning to come back, if that's going to be the general vibe, we'll stop going. We're not beer snobs and just like grabbing random lagers and pilsners and always enjoyed Beer Star up to this point. I hope this was a one off thing and if so, I'll adjust this review after another...
