Food is great. Waitress was awful! Toast looked like white bread with melted butter on it. Asked for her to toast it? It was never brought back. My wife asked for her milk with breakfast, never got it? Hash browns were undercooked. Mine were fine but my wife and daughters were not. Asked for extra napkins when food was delivered at table never got them either. Waitress never returned one time to check on us. My wife and two daughters left outside to wait in the car because they saw I was not happy. The waitress did mention that she had a 10 person table also and when she walked by us not one time did she even look in our direction. I guess 10 people must tip better than 4? Lol not sure what happened? When she came to the table the first thing she asked me was did they bring your toast? Smh I replied no can I please speak to a manager? She walked away and a moment later another lady approached me and said the manager was not able to come and she was an assistant manager and I invited her to sit down she was a very nice lady. I explained everything that happened and also expressed how good the chicken fried steak was and said I'm not looking to get out of paying my bill or asking for a discount. And explained to her we never ever go out to breakfast I mean it has literally been years probably about 8 or 9. My daughter's are 22 and 25 and my oldest daughter's significant other was out of town so it was very nice to go to what we thought would be a great breakfast as we have heard from many people how good the food is there. The nice lady said we are going to comp your meal all we ask is to please give us one more chance. I again said I am not asking for her to do that just letting them know how bad the service was. She insisted on comping our meal and asked if I would like a cinnamon roll to take home which I replied sure! I let the assistant manager know when I was younger I was a waiter in Las Vegas where I grew up and that the service we got or lack of service we got is something that was the worse I had ever received. Now our waitress was a very nice lady I think she obviously had too many tables. I can say the food that I had was very good, I did not get to eat my eggs because I eat them with toast and I never got my toast, and my wife and daughters hash browns were crispy on the outside and a little undercooked in the middle . And in hindsight I do feel terrible that I did not leave a tip for the waitress, I still do not believe she deserved one since she was not around but she was very nice and did take our order and delivered our food just nonexistent after. I was very unhappy at the time but I still should have left a tip and that was my mistake especially after the assistant manager comped our meal. And who knows what the waitress has going on outside of work or how many tables she might have had? I'm sorry and will be going back to leave a tip. I promise. She was working and I'm sure very busy, and in the world we live in today she is working and not looking for a handout like so many others here in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area. Not asking anybody for anything. She was doing the best she could at that time. We will be returning to the Homestead again. Maybe next time I will bring a little more patience and understanding with me, Thankyou to everyone at the Homestead as the food and atmosphere...
Read moreooking for is a subpar Cracker Barrel that is repeatedly overhyped and under delivers, you’ve found a restaurant for you!
I have visited Homestead three times recently as my car was needing repairs. Each time I’ve gone, I’ve had a bad experience.
Visit one, I had food so salty I had to quit eating. I’m not anti-salt, I still am surprised how they make a BLT salty as hell. I also had an appetizer and that was super salty too. I hate leaving food on the table, but I had to admit defeat on this one.
Visit two, I ordered a funnel cake fries and chicken fingers. While that was fine, to be blunt it has the opposite problem and was bland. For the price, you’re better off going to Dairy Queen for chicken fingers at 1/2 or 1/3 the price. You’re certainly not getting a 2x better meal.
Visit three, I again had to quit my meal. I got their cinnamon roll breakfast sandwich and it was awful. Based on the description, you should be looking at a meal that is salty and sweet and a mix of flavors. Instead, you get uneven bites of bland and bad. The entire sandwich needs to be rethought. A McGriddle is superior in every way to what they’re making. A McGriddle may be significantly smaller, but it’s 100% edible. I left 2/3 of the sandwich on my plate and quit. I tried to eat it, but each bite was worse and worse.
But above all, when staff saw my abandoning food, nobody asked about the quality or if there was a problem. Refilling my drinks took forever. And overall, you’re not getting quality here, you’re getting quantity. But a whole lot of bad isn’t good.
I genuinely can’t phantom why so many people repeatedly praise this place. Maybe it’s a hit of nostalgia or maybe their cinnamon roll is that good by itself, but frankly, a good cinnamon roll isn’t good enough of an excuse. You’re looking at $20-$30 for a meal and a drink and what you’re getting is mostly inedible or so muted in flavor that fast food restaurants surpass it in value.
Mostly who I saw at the restaurant were grey hairs and maybe that’s the appeal here. Hit the nostalgia button for people who came here way back and they are too set in their ways to try something new. I don’t want to trash a local eatery, but genuinely, Dennys is better and...
Read moreDisappointing. I have heard great things about Homestead and after reading what I felt were mostly positive reviews I decided to give them a try.
When we arrived at 10:30 am on Saturday we expected them to be busy and had no problem with the 20 minute wait. We both really enjoyed the rustic "country" decor and warm atmosphere. Unfortunately, when it came time to seat us we were led through the restaurant, past the private little booths with their warm and inviting ambience and into a very BRIGHT and echoey banquet type room.
I should have spoken up right away. That was my mistake. But it took so long for the waitress to come to our table, by that time I kind of just wanted to eat and go.
It took over 30 minutes for a server to take our order and at least another 45 for our food to come and it was cold. Hashbrowns were undercooked as well as my eggs (which I couldn't eat) For these prices ($16+ for chicken fried steak and eggs) I had higher expectations.
I know they were busy and I have NO problem waiting if the food is at least above average and the environment pleasant. Needless to say, screaming babies, kids pounding on tables and running around yelling, in a small very echoey room was NOT the experience we were expecting.
I strongly recommend giving your patrons the option of waiting on a quiet booth, especially when it's only 2 people, no kids, or being seated right away in the banquet room.- we would have waited had we been given a choice. I love kids- I have my own and I own a daycare. But, I felt like I was being punished.
We won't...
