If I could a negative rating, I absolutely would!!!! Usually I go to the location on Union Avenue over by the Walmart but my autistic disabled 8 year old son has had a cold all week and really really wanted an ice cream cone. So about 2 days ago I went to the Union Ave location and their ice cream machine was down but of course, my 8 year old has not forgotten about this ice cream cone that he still hasn't received lol. As kids do. So this morning I went ahead and opened up the app to order ahead of time. On the McDonald's app I had the Union Ave location selected but under the ice cream cone selection it stated that this item was "unavailable". OK, perfectly fine. So inserted the next closest location which happens to be this 802 Tacoma Ave S. I proceed to add an ice cream cone onto my mobile order and everything is going swell, I even used some of my points to pay for the cone! I get to drive thru and the lady working the 1st window, taking payments at around 10:12am on March 10th 2023 at the 802 Tacoma Ave S location was extremely nice and courteous. I had even mentioned to her about my son being sick and how I usually go to a different location but that I'm on the ice cream hunt! Lol. Now on the other hand, the two lady's working the 2nd window at 10:12am on March 10th 2023 at the 802 Tacoma Ave S location were EXTREMELY rude!!! As soon as I got to the window the woman explained to me with extreme and unprompted attitude that they currently have no ice cream at the moment and that "She can't magically make the ice cream machine work." Why she said this comment, I have no idea, as I was nothing but very cordial with them and did not give them any type of a hassle as that is just not the type of person I am. She proceeded to ask me if I would like something else like a pie. I nicely declined as my son wants something cold for his throat. So I asked for a small strawberry banana smoothie instead as it's the next best option. The woman hiding behind her made it very clear that she did not think this was a "fair" trade but already happened to have a small strawberry banana smoothie in her hand. The 1st woman at the window went to hand it to me and I asked if she could please add whip cream. I mean this is an 8 year we are talking about. Whip cream is life. Lol. She rolled her eyes and consulted with the woman hiding behind her and then proceeded to tell me that whip cream does not come free on the smoothies. I pulled put my wallet and offered to pay the 50 cents right then and there. She rolled her eyes again and said with the same attitude she had throughout this whole interaction, " Ugh I guess I'll just give you the whip cream". Then in true coward fashion, the woman hiding behind her decided to speak up saying, "That cost way more than an ice cream cone ugh". I have no problem paying for the smoothie in full. Money isn't an issue whatsoever. Customer service however!? A HUGE ISSUE at this location!!! Maybe they should put all the energy they use towards their customers who have done nothing wrong and have not been rude in anyway whatsoever, and update the app so that people can't order ice cream products if you can't give people ice cream products!!! I mean, that's just a thought but who am I? Less than, that's who I am to these 2 women, or at least that's how they made me feel. I will NEVER be back to this location and will make sure none of my friends or family do either. I'm not sure why but my reviews get TONS views and likes, as I'm sure this one will too. I will be calling corporate as well, I firmly believe that this 2 women should NOT be working in any customer service...
Read moreSince the beginning of COVID and as of this posting, food is served by drive thru and delivery only. No inside or outside seating. Burgers often taste like they've been sitting under the warming lights for longer than the recommended time, causing the edges of the burger and bun to dry out, and making the lettuce soggy. Sometimes the cheese is still cold and not melted. On the rare occasion I have tomatoes on my burger, they have either been unripe and/or flavorless. Sometimes the fries are overcooked and dried out. Sometimes fries are cold and limp. More often than not they are over salted.
Yet sometimes...the fries are cooked to perfection. ☺️ Several times the Sprite has tasted like mildew, probably from not cleaning the lines. A few times the Coke has tasted more like Diet Coke, probably because the syrup mix is not dispensing in the correct proportion to the carbonation and water.
A family member of mine worked for both franchise and corporate McDs for 8+ years as an overnight manager in Kent, Renton, Covington, Maple Valley and North Bend. It was a rare occasion that I was served under par food, whether that relative was working or not.
Up until the end of 2019, Tacoma had a very active night life (pre-COVID). Now there are significantly less people out and even less out after 11 pm. After 9pm the food selection is severely limited (after 9 pm) and only one that is open 24 hours. Here are the most popular place to eat late in Tacoma: McDs, Frisko Freeze, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, Puget Sound Pizza, and Memo's (a local favorite). It's a shame too, since there are more people working late shifts than ever before.
I think the Tacoma night life needs a creative genius to come up with a business model that will turn a profit for late night...
Read moreI wish I could give the service a negative number! I placed an order through the McDonald’s mobile app at approximately 11:45 PM, using code ME15. The app and your website both indicated that this location was open 24 hours. After placing my order, I waited patiently in the second drive-thru aisle behind another vehicle whose ordering process took around 13 minutes. I remained in line for a total of 15 minutes.
When I reached the window, I was informed that the restaurant was closed and that I would not be receiving my order—despite the fact that I had placed it in the app and had a valid confirmation. I explained that I had already waited in line and had received confirmation of my order. The staff responded that it did not matter how long I had waited or whether the order had been placed.
I then requested a refund for my loyalty points, as I had intended to order more food. The manager took my phone, claiming he could process the refund, but was ultimately unable to do so. When I asked for documentation or a note to pick up the item the following day, I was told I would have to return and ask for him personally. He refused to provide his name or the contact information for his manager, only stating that she would be in the next morning.
This experience was especially upsetting as I had just spent six hours at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital with my son and was trying to find a meal late at night. McDonald’s was the only open option listed in the area, and I was left without food and...
