I hate to be making such a negative review but hopefully it serves as decent feedback. I’ve tried a good bit of “Chinese restaurants” in the Tallahassee area and unfortunately all have this pan-Asian menu that features every kind of noodle under the sun while not staying true to one country. I understand it’s supposed to match the USA-driven palette of the demographic but I can’t believe it’s seeped into the dim sum menu here.
In short, I brought my friends to dim sum bc I heard a good recommendation. What we got served was not dim sum. They all came out rather slow (and cold) and most of the dishes didn’t even match the pictures on the dim sum menu. We got 3 fried tofus rather than 4, like what was on the menu, and when we complained the server went to check and her feedback was “that’s just how much they have in one batch.” So the chefs aren’t going to cook up one more to match the picture? We literally ordered it thinking it was 4 bc there were 4 people in our party. Don’t trust the pictures, double check how much you’re getting.
The rest was a blur, I’m just grateful my friends were nice about it but the worst offense was when the changfeng (肠粉) came out. I’ve never seen nor tasted such a poor rendition of my favorite meal. I was legit about to go to the kitchen myself and make this dish (bc it’s not hard). They used cheap tiny tiny shrimps instead of normal ones, the rice noodle skin was thick and tough more so than chewy, and tell me why the sauce tasted more like a diluted oyster sauce than a light soy sauce?? Like how do you get this wrong? Service was fine but food was disappointing. I was embarrassed I introduced dim sum to my friends at this place and should have...
Read moreBad experience right from the beginning.. I called to see if they were open for dine in eating, I was told they were backed up with food orders then ended up getting hung up on. When we showed up, we were not greeted right away and could tell they were very busy. Then when we were finally seated, it took the waitress five minutes to come over, another ten to get our drinks and were told sushi was behind half an hour, but we ordered other food too and told her to bring it out as it was ready. Fast forward, fifteen minutes we got our appetizers, twenty minutes later I got my soup and salad, another thirty five minutes later we checked in with the waitress to see where our entrees were and she said another ten minutes and more for the sushi. Meanwhile two couples that came in forty five minutes after us were packing up there food to go home and another just had their sushi delivered. We told the waitress to cancel our sushi and pack our food to go and asked to speak to the manager. She walked over with an attitude, never apologized and said they just stopped talking to go orders. That should’ve happened when I called at 5:30, not 7:30, to service the completely full restaurant of patrons. I asked the manager to discount the bill and she took it from my hands and said we didn’t have to pay and stormed away. I wasn’t looking for free food, just food. That was the first and certainly last time we’ll be going there. One bad egg ruins the bunch.. plus they couldn’t even get the miso soup or ginger dressing right, it was so heavy on the salt I nearly choked on it.. the staples of a Japanese restaurant and that was almost as bad as the...
Read moreI have no complaints on the tastes of the dishes, because we have been frequent customers (not so much in the past few years because we have been busy to eat out). But we love the food always. But really disappointed the fact that we ordered a whole peking duck, $50 on Uber eats and picked up. Got home only to find out it didn’t look like a whole duck. Called and explained what happened, after them going through a few phone and online orders of “half duck” that were not ours, finally, the receptionist was able to see our online order of a whole duck - still insisted that I got a whole. I understood mistake could happen, could have been many people ordered half of it that night and our order got mixed up. But well, she insisted that I got a whole thing. Well, she asked how they can fix my problem. I sincerely said that i wanna hear how the restaurant offers to fix my problem because I didn’t want to be demanding, but she couldn’t say what. So I said because we lived a bit far, couldn’t come and get the other half, so I asked for partial refund. Even I said I could send a pic of what the portion looked like to prove it. Only to be told that I had to contact Uber eats. So why asked me how to get the problem fixed? I took a picture when first opened the box, had to leave the skin aside to see what underneath, 6 pieces of meat with some shredded, really not that much. If this is really the whole duck, they need to work on getting a good sized duck because this is way too expensive. Sorry I’m not returning...
