Okay, where do I begin? First, I was looked up "fine dining" restaurants in Tallahassee to host my birthday dinner of 8-10 guests. I came across Georgio's and read through some reviews. There were many that were good, but for those that weren't, the manager/owner (I'm not sure which one) always had a rebuttal. For instance, if someone said the steak was too tough, the manager/owner would comment that they'd wish the customer would have told them instead of writing a review. Um..okay? That should have been my red flag, but I still decided to try it out. On Tuesday, a few hours before my 8pm reservation, the restaurant called and told me that my party needed to order their food by 8:15 because the restaurant closed at 9:30. Okay, that's fine I said. Then the person went on to reiterate his instructions again! I told him I got it the first time and he said he had to make sure I understood because "other" parties don't follow directions. Another red flag I ignored. So my party got there all by 8pm. I arrived at 8:10 and we immediately ordered. My friend tried a cup of lobster bisque and told our waitress she wanted to order a bowl. Throughout the night, the waitress kept coming back reassuring my friend that the lobster bisque was being made and would be out shortly. By the end of the dinner, the waitress came back and said unfortunately the chef had left and there was no one who could make her lobster bisque. Mind you this was 30-40 minutes after she originally placed the order. I'm not sure if the waitress forgot to remind the cook? But she had already charged my friend for the soup. We asked if she could refund her the money and the waitress told us the manager had also left for the evening. What?! So my friend asked the waitress what could she do and the waitress literally said well I can give you some of my own personal money to replace what you lost. That doesn't even make sense. So while we are still trying to figure it out, it was obvious the staff were ready to go! The lights kept flickering on and off and they stopped playing background music. Ultimately, the owner came back and had to remake a pot of soup for her. But wow that experience was unusual and inconvenient. I ordered the Delmonico and it was a basic steak. It needed more seasoning and I saw my other guests who ordered the same thing putting steak sauce on theirs (which says a lot). The best thing about the night was the lobster bisque (I had ordered some as well). I probably wouldn't go back here again. They gave me the impression that they didn't want to go above and beyond for their guests and that they didn't feel like waiting on us all night. You all open from 4pm-9:30pm...
Read moreI was excited to try Georgio's for Valentines Day. We had never been. Unfortunately it was a less than stellar experience. Horrible, no, but definitely not worth the prices they are charging. First, we ordered our drinks and an appetizer. Waited maybe 15 minutes or so, drinks never came. Eventually server brought our appetizer and asked if we needed anything else. We said, yes, our drinks please. She had totally forgotten them. The appetizer was $16 and consisted of just 4 bacon wrapped shrimp. They were decent size, a little salty, but just seemed a bit meager for that price, but maybe others would think it is ok. We ordered our entrees with salads. Entrees came in a reasonable time but again, she asked if we needed anything else, and we had to tell her that salads never came. So she went and got those. They were below average but the bar for dinner salads is pretty low these days I guess. My entree was ok. crab "stuffed" grouper, although the crab was actually on the side and not particularly great. No big deal I guess. I actually liked my entree ok. My wife's entree however was the Shrimp Helena. It consisted of a large bowl of fettuccini pasta with a thin, rather unimpressive sauce, some feta chunks and 6 standard size shrimp. For approx. $40 I felt this was completely unacceptable. Olive Garden shrimp and chicken carbonara has this beat on price and quality all day long. It also appeared to have been sitting for a bit as the top of her meal had a dried look to it when it arrived. We finished with a chocolate torte that was actually pretty delicious, if small. So, as I said, not horrible, but for $160 (after tip) for 2 people (1 drink each, 1 shared appetizer, entrees, 1 shared dessert), I really think they need to step up their game, both in quality of food...
Read moreWent here for a friend’s birthday party and it was a terrible experience. I was super excited to try Georgio’s. The manager Taylor was very unprofessional and rude. Very unfortunate.
In response to the manager: First off, I have to say your insinuation that I would try to complain to get a free crab cake that was like $13 is utterly ridiculous and highly offensive! I took one bite of it, I did not eat half. The crab cake did not taste fresh. It tasted like it was frozen and then heated up and thrown on a plate and I did not enjoy it. And I have no clue what you are talking about in regards to an ID as I don’t drink alcohol due to medical purposes. However, I am well over legal drinking age. I never asked for any alcoholic beverage and refused to show ID. I ordered a apple juice which you guys didn’t have and then got a pineapple juice. As for a dessert fee… we didn’t even open or cut the cake in the establishment!! What do you mean you waived the fee for us?? The fact that you would tell a customer that their complaint is not valid is the issue. This is the exact attitude you had when you addressed our table. And we didn’t even ask for a manager. Your customer service is poor. Accept customer feedback in a professional manner and move on. We even told the server she was doing a good job. She even apologized for your behavior. And you do not ever have to worry about me returning. Nonetheless thanks for your response although there was a lot of misinformation which is...
