On March 13th I placed an order for delivery via the Jimmy John's phone app. The store nearest me is JJ3029, located at 4248 South Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33611. I've had a mixture of good and bad experiences from this location, however I won't ever order from this store again.
I ordered a #7 SPICY EAST COAST ITALIAN, French, 8" (Original), Cut in half, EZ Lettuce, Reg Tomato, Reg Jimmy Peppers, No Mayonnaise, No Onions, No Capicola, Reg Cucumber, Xtra Grey Poupon® Dijon Mustard, EZ Sliced Pickles, Reg Avocado Spread.
The #7 is essentially the same as the #5 Vito, however it's supposed to have DOUBLE the meat. I don't like Capicola, so I got the double meat version to make up for removing the Capicola. I also asked for EZ Lettuce and Xtra Mustard in an attempt to make up for a previous order that had way too much lettuce and very little mustard on it. When I got my sandwich this time, I was disappointed to find a meager attempt at what should've been a hearty sandwich.
The meat portion of the sub, which was supposed to be "double the meat", was essentially 6 slices of salami in two thin layers that were so thin they were almost translucent. There was barely enough meat to make a "Little John", let alone the "double the meat" the sub should've had.
The rest of the sub was similarly disappointing. If there was lettuce on the sub, you would be hard pressed to find it. That would've been fine if the other portions of vegetables were anywhere near what they should've been. There were four individual cucumbers (Reg Cucumber ordered), four individual pickles (EZ Pickles ordered), and four individual tomatoes (Reg Tomatoes ordered). There were also no Jimmy Peppers at all.
I called the store and asked to speak to a manager. The girl who initially answered the phone asked me to hold for a moment, then another woman got on the phone with a simple "Hello?". I reiterated that I was attempting to talk to a manager, to which she replied, "That's me." I then had to ask her her name, to which she replied, "Tee." I could hear her attitude through the phone.
I would expect a "manager" to have a basic understanding of business etiquette and provide an introduction to the customer they're addressing. While I was attempting to explain my issue, she cut me off, asking whether I wanted a replacement sandwich or a store credit. It took me a second to recover from my initial shock that a manager would just cut off a customer during a conversation, however what happened next was more infuriating.
I started to tell "Tee" that I'd like to have a replacement sandwich and she immediately hung up on me, before I could even finish the sentence. No apology, no have a good rest of your day, no common courtesy of a goodbye/good afternoon.
I was left stunned, listening to a dial tone.
I subsequently filled out a customer feedback form through the Jimmy John's website and was contacted by an employee from the company headquarters in Champaign, Illinois. He advised that store JJ3029 was locally owned and operated by a franchisee, and that the issue was escalated to the highest person with the location to be addressed. I have heard nothing from the store directly.
Jimmy John's should reevaluate whatever process they use to promote/hire managers, because "Tee" has no place serving in a management function. She has a bad attitude that was so palpable it could be heard through the phone and she has absolutely ZERO customer service skills.
I've had great experiences in the past with the Jimmy Johns near my office in downtown St. Pete, however I would not recommend this location to anyone.
I, for one, will never give them my...
Read moreWas at this location the other day via drive thru where i recieved less than pleasant customer service....drove away and called the store to speak with the GM. She apologized and invited me back with an 8.00 credit. So today i decided to return and try again, now mind you this is my first time having a sandwhich from here in four years, so I curious to try it again, hopefully it would be better than before......this was not the case. You bill yourself as a gourmet sandwich, but you use shredded iceburg lettuce and precooked straight from the fridge bacon. Now i will say the bread is fresh baked and would be heavan for a real sandwhich.....just not this one. Turkey has no flavor, most of there Sandwhiches don't come with cheese and cost extra if you want cheese (provolone is your only option, period). I got the club lulu and asked for extra bacon....and still no bacon flavor came through. And heads up my 8 in. Cost a little over 8.00 before the extra bacon and cheese added, and they only give you three slices of turkey folded in half. Verdict while I appreciate the manager gesture, JJ sandwhich is well just average. Wouldn't...
Read moreI love that this location has a drive through and is open till 10pm. There are times where I leave the office so late, the only thing open is fast food, so this is a nice alternative. They're so freaky fast that I forgot to get the gentleman's name the other night I was there, but he's there almost every time I pull up, so I'm thinking he might be the manager. Well, after one of those late nights at the office, I headed straight to Jimmy John’s and realized it was exactly 10pm when I pulled up! I was just about to drive off when, the same gentleman who was at the window the other night, said hello through the speaker! I gave him my order and thanked him for making it for me! He did not have to take my order; he was at the end of his shift and was ready to go home just as I was 20 minutes prior. It’s kind gestures like that that set you (and any business) apart...
