We popped into Lee’s Grocery on a weekend night for a quick dinner and ended up staying longer than planned, it’s that good! The space is small and unassuming, but it was completely packed, buzzing with energy and filled with locals who clearly know this spot is a winner. Don’t let the surrounding neighborhood throw you off—this place is absolutely worth a visit. We grabbed seats at the bar and started with the cheese bread, which was fine (a little average), but things quickly leveled up. We tried the pizza of the week—a delicious combination of sausage, roasted red peppers, and balsamic drizzle—and it was outstanding. We also ordered the white pizza and the BBQ chicken, and every pie was spot-on. The crust is what really stood out: crispy, perfectly seasoned, and baked to perfection. They offer a great selection of beers on tap, ciders, and self-serve cans, plus a handy water station if you need a reset between slices. Bonus: they have Delirum Red! The ambiance is laid-back but full of personality—think cool, local hangout with great food and no pretension. A must-visit if you’re a pizza lover or just looking for a chill, satisfying night out in Tampa.

Firstly, I apologize for not taking pictures of the wings. I was hungry. But they fell off the bone so fast I couldn’t dip them in my blue cheese. The hot sauce is worthy and it was not breaded. My favorite wings so far. Second, we did 2 pizzas. I had an itch to scratch for extra cheese pepperoni and the boys wanted the all meat “dead man’s party”. The crust is amazing: fluffy and sturdy to hold all ingredients. The personal size is perfect for one, the large is perfect for 3. Beer is varied AND you can take a six (or mixed) pack home. Definitely my new favorite. Update 6/15/18: add extra cheese to any specialty pizza if you want awesome. If you want diet pizza, keep it normal. FYI.

Lots of contenders for best pizza in Tampa (and best pizza in the Heights), but Lee’s Grocery stands out. I’m so excited I finally got to try it. Really laid back, great vibe - staff is super friendly - superb beer selection (both bottle and draft). The food, though, is the real highlight. The pizza menu isn’t too different from other options in the area, but there’s some special nuance to the crust or sauce or SOMETHING that makes it incredible. The wings are also really good - I would recommend getting the BBQ Sriracha (a mix of the two flavors). Gonna be making this a regular spot for sure.

I made my visit after many, MANY, high recommendations. I called in advance to order my pizza. I got a busy signal the first two attempts, the third attempt, I got an answer and then immidiately hung up on. On my fourth attempt, I did finally place my order with a not so pleased man telling me it would be ready in thirty-five minutes. Upon arriving, I noticed parking is limited but I luckily got a spot as someone was pulling out from the front of the store (parallel street parking). I assumed my order would be ready upon arriving but it wasn't. The man behind the counter told me it would be another twenty minutes so I went and waited in my car. When I came back in, he avoided me so I finally asked and he mumbled something. I continued to wait and a woman came in to start her shift. She asked me if I needed help and i told her I was waiting in my order. She went to the back and came out and said it would be up shortly. Shortly became an additional fifteen minutes. I asked her in her passing if it was ready she said it would be "Just a moment." I then waited another ten minutes and she passed me again and said it was next so I asked "next to be made or coming out already in the oven next?" And she said "It's coming." So, after an hour and ten minute wait I got my large pizza. It was good but not great. I might have overly prepared myself. The bar and beer choice seemed pretty neat; however, it was a week night so I didn't drink. Wouldn't mind attempting again and getting a beer. If I recommend this place I'll definitely note the pace of service. Kinda wish the one server/bartender was a bit more friendly but he was alone at first and...

This place has great pizza and wings, but also great ownership and staff. I have been there multiple times for dine in, but last night I called for a pickup order and the menu was showing only 16 and 18 inch options, so when asked what size we said "the smallest one" as we weren't sure of the exact inch sizes at the time. But we were definitely expecting a big pizza there were 3 of us really hungry after a concert. We get there and we are handed a personal size basically pizza box. When I looked confused, the lady (who turned out to be the owner but I didnt know that at the time) asked me what was up. I told her we expected a big pizza and showed her the online menu with the sizes, and she told me they offer all of their pizzas also in a 10in which is personal size, so the person who took our order just did that for us when we said smallest. She said that was their fault and had a large made on the fly for us, and wouldnt let me even pay the difference between the two sizes (and I told her at all times I intended to pay for the pizza I ordered, but I just needed it bigger). She also offered to buy me a beer but I declined. She made a conscious effort to make it right even though it wasnt all their fault. I really respected that mentality from a business. And when we got our big pizza, it...

It was super busy and loud, but not offensively so, but this was probably the best pizza I have ever had! I mean, it was good good. I've had pizza all over the world. I've had Chicago pizza in Chicago, New York style pizza in NYC, and a handful of other cities but this pizza is probably top 5 world wide. Maybe top 3... I have to do a taste test that wouldn't really be practical because it's going to be like having NYC Chicago, and a ton of California places all in the same spot just to determine who is actually best.

This is premium pizza, and if they mess with their formula it wouldn't keep the flavor. What I mean is, it's a small place and it takes forever for your pizza to come out... HOWEVER!!! if they were to get a larger place, bigger oven, or change anything, they risk losing what makes it so special. This can't change, you have to wait your turn and if this were to try and be anything bigger, faster, or even more lucrative... it just would detract from the whole experience.

Go here, sit in the place, have some beer (even the non alcoholic beer is good! For real!!) Be patient and soak in the authenticity of the place, and all the years it's been since the place opened, and see if you agree. Can't...
