We tried it out for the first time last night after attending a show at the Tampa Theater. It is about a five minute drive from that venue. It is very unassuming and plain on the outside, and almost feels like it's just a locals only neighborhood bar. I honestly asked my wife if she wanted to go in or not when we first arrived. She said oh absolutely, and we went in for what was going to be a great experience. The two ladies working the bar were very friendly and welcoming. They helped my wife with some wine selections, listening to her likes, and even gave her a couple of tastings to make sure that she'd like them before committing to a full glass. The interior was comfortable and cozy. The place was pretty busy, so it was a little loud from conversations, but they had the background music playing at just the right level that we didn't have to shout at each other. The artwork looked indy and original, the interior painted this interesting streaked gray, and the majority of the seating was two and 4 seat booth and chair combinations. We tried the Boudin Egg Rolls, which had a nice smoky flavor for plant based sausage, and the loaded loaded waffle fries, which had a bit of a lemon, citrus sort of taste, topped with a complimenting sauce, some herbs, and chopped green onions. We closed the place down, and the staff was very patient with us though I'm sure they wanted to close up and leave. I tried one of their draft IPAs and a Green Light Lager, and those were both excellent. I also tried the Rainbow Sherbet beer. I didn't like that one as much, I thought it was too sour. It was a place that made us feel very welcome and I am sure we will...
Read moreThis is a cute new wine bar in Ybor City, in the most unlikely place off 7th Avenue and Nebraska. I love the interior, its modeled after bars in Puerto Rico and the influence makes the bar really charming. The wine list is a little limited at this time, but it just recently opened. There's also some craft beer options from local spots and some non-alcoholic options as well.
There is only a few options by the glass, much more by the bottle - so keep that in mind and try to come with some friends. The prices per bottle are not unapproachable though!
There is also some food items on the menu, but sadly not any cheese or meats, which I hope might come in the future or maybe some different snacks.
Parking is best next to Flan Factory or in the grass lot nearby, of course its not the safest area so be sure to lock your vehicle and not leave any valuables in your car. We walked from Ybor down 7th since it was daytime when went, but probably not the best idea at night.
Check this bar out and support local. The staff couldn't have been friendlier and I really want to let everyone know about...
Read moreThis place is definitely somewhat of a hidden gem. It is located near Tampa's charming Ybor City. The outside is plain and unassuming, but the interior of the restaurant is decorated in a beautiful, historic Louisiana style. There's also a free parking lot at the back.
They have a vast selection of wines (which we didn't try this day) and a small, fully vegan food menu. Although the food choices were a bit limited, we still enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend the boudin egg rolls, the fried green tomatoes, and the lion's mane sliders. The dishes are on the small side, so you may need to order 2-3 dishes per person for a filling meal.
You order at the bar and pay when you order or start a tab. It came to about 85$ for 3 people, including tax and tip. Service was...
