Pibb's Rib Shack — Restaurant in Tampa

You wouldn’t know it by the humble facing and you’re likely to miss it if it weren’t for the signs on the road, but this is a special operation. Been beautifully worked by two people who serve everything fresh.

I got the ribs, the chicken (which was the juiciest and freshest tasting I’ve ever had), pulled pork, sausage, and the fried catfish (which was dropped fresh to order). None of it even even needs sauce, there’s so much great flavor from the smoking and the seasoning of the meat and somehow they’ve managed to keep all the juices in it. Sides of Mac, collard greens, and baked beans, and all four sauces.

All of that cost under 40 dollars.

In an age where we’re all getting charged through the nose for quality food, this is probably the best deal in all of barbecue. Next time I’m gonna have to try the brisket and get there a little bit earlier.

Pibbs Ribshack is hands down one of my favorite spots in New Tampa. We visit frequently, and my most recent visit in April 2025 reminded me exactly why I keep coming back. We ordered the rib sandwich and an oxtail dinner—both were absolutely delicious. The meats are juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection, and the side dishes are just as satisfying. Portions are generous, and the flavors never disappoint.

It’s a family-owned business, and you can feel the care in both the food and the service. The owners are genuinely good people—pleasant, personable, and committed to delivering top-tier customer service. Every visit feels like a warm, welcoming experience.

They have the best food in town, Literally!! I have the catfish dinner w/ coleslaw & corn on the cob sometimes greens every weekend! My mom drives from Lakeland,FL to Wesley Chapel 45 minutes just to get her a plate from them. We are from Memphis,TN and its a requirement that we have very delicuous BBQ & Fish in our lives. Plus the owners are super friendly & professional. They are clean and give you more than your money worth of food everytime. Mace always make sure that we are happy with are orders by asking us to take a look at our food before leaving. Their prices are very affordable on any budget!!
