This is probably the only review I would ever need to write about since it's so disappointing. The convenience of curbside pickup is one of the most genius ideas that I'd like to commend for JG, but it's the staff downstairs in the take-out shack that are the complete opposite. I had placed a paid online order for a specific time that when I got there it was never ready. Having to talk to the cashier and his partner (both were males), not once have I gotten a timeframe and it was to the point it surpassed 20 minutes. You can clearly see that they rather talk amongst each other and not pick up the phone to at least communicate. It took my father to go upstairs and he would have to ask for it and were still questioned if we placed an order? We practically got our orders ourselves. To have previously worked in JG was a pleasure and there was procedures to follow, but apparently new staff can sit there laughing without a care because if orders are not ready, they don't need to do anything. You...
Read moreIf you are looking for authentic Jerk or Curry Chicken, this is not the place for it. I went there after someone told me it was not good but wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered the Chicken and I was highly disappointed. I should have know when I walked in, I did not see one Jamaican person working in there. This is own by a white man, I think he should at least hire someone that could cook jerk or curry chicken. Maybe he just trying to capitalize on those on the island. I did not taste the other food, so I can’t give a review on that. Word to the owner, explore the culture, use resource to bring authentic food here or at least get the Jerk and Curry chicken right. I rather eat the Jerk and Curry chicken that the young Jamaican lady I met YPAO beach. She is actually Jamaican. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for Curry or Jerk Chicken. Take it off the menu if it is not authentic, instead of dressing it in Soy sauce. Highly...
Read moreI thought this place would be a little kitschy because of the advertising, but I went on the recommendation of a friend, and I was pleasantly surprised. The orange rice they do was a little bland, but the red beans and rice wasn't too bad, and the BBQ chicken was done well. I particularly like the cucumber piko salad they do, which is very spicy, as well as some of their sauces. The chicken kelaguen isn't too bad either, especially the spiced tortilla strips that come with it.
The only big thing I was disappointed with was the drink selection: a few overly sweet tropical drinks and a couple bottled beers. And they were out of Red Stripe! Not good for a Jamaican place, but not surprising on the island. Overall, though, it's a good option for a meal if you're staying...
