Dee's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Taylorsville

My family comes here periodically for breakfast due to its convenience. Typically our service is no more than okay and my food is always cold. But yesterday really topped it off. My grandma and I came in around 2:30. Wasn’t busy at all. Our server, didn’t get her name, dark brown/black hair, 40’s, had only 1-2 other tables. She came over to us in a rush, no introduction, didn’t tell us her name. Just quickly asked us if we wanted anything to drink. Our food took awhile to come out as is, and when she brought it out she told my grandma that she had rang her food in as the regular bacon and eggs instead of the senior on accident, but would only charge us for the senior. Okay. She doesn’t come to check how our food is for at least 10 minutes. We were never given water and once I asked for it she apologized for forgetting it. She never came to give us boxes. I had to go and ask for them. When she saw me getting them myself she apologized and asked if I wanted some containers for my sauces. I said sure and she didn’t come back for 5 minutes even though I saw her sanding right there. She informed me she had to place an order first. When she gave us our check, it was not updated. Still had the regular bacon and eggs on it. It was just really not a great experience. I’m a server as well and customer requests should come first. This server wasn’t attentive at all and normally I understand if a server is busy, but it wasn’t busy at all. She acted like she had better things to do and I felt like more of a nuisance than a customer. It’s just unfortunate that the number of times we’ve come here it’s never a...

This was my favorite place to eat and I would go regularly but now I am very disappointed in this because the racism and discrimination that me and my boyfriend experienced here. The Karen server must not have been able to handle serving an interracial couple because she called a different person over into her area to take our order. Thought our our meal she repeatedly stared at us in a stalking like manner and make rude jokes and gestures in our direction. When we were eating the female server served and checked on all the tables around us except for ours. She never asked us how the food tasted or if we wanted refills but she was more then happy to talk with everyone else. It wasn't busy either. Afterwards when we were finished eating and it was obvious we needed the bill she only stood idly by watching us and joking with her friends. Then to top it all of she made fun of my boyfriends english and was blantaly disrespectful and snobby. I am sad because I loved this place so much because the food was good and Brock was a good server but unfortunately we won't be back due to the disrespect. Throughout our meal I felt stalked and uncomfortable for this Karen women. I'm disappointed dees would hire and allow someone like that to work for them. I usually get to-go orders from restaurants, as I'm disabled since a car accident and multiple spine surgeries, in chronic pain and it hurts to sit in regular seating.

I'm addicted to Chef's Salads, (my friend loves their Cobb salad), but with my tweaks and Dee's staff never balks when I call in my orders. They're always super kind and make every effort to ensure the accuracy of my order, each time. For a while last summer during the hottest months, (2018, my AC is broken in my house and I can't afford to fix it. Too hot to cook), I ordered often enough they remembered my order and did just ask if I wanted to change or add anything.

The grilled cheese, mozzarella sticks and cheese fries are amazing, too! Especially after a night out with friends and you need grease! 👍🏻

As a side note, and coming from someone who used to work as a hostess and a server, as well as a younger sister to two sisters who worked decades as servers and a bartender, even when ordering to-go? Please, please, don't forget to tip! You don't have to do a standard 18-20%, since there wasn't table service. But they did help take your order, gather it, the condiments, any napkins/ plasticware and extras you asked for and double checked it for you. Then served you when you picked it up....
