If you’re in a band looking to play here, don’t. We had planned to put on a show with them for months. Typically when we set up live music shows, the “venues” will supply the proper staffing for someone to man the door and accept money for tickets. Usually we get a portion of the ticket sales and split it with the other bands.
Their communication was the first red flag. When the day came to put on a show including my band and three other bands, Temecula Sports Lounge was completely mismanaged. The “owner” waited until 15 minutes AFTER doors were open to inform me that we were supposed to supply a staff member to not only check people’s IDs, but also to accept payments for tickets at the door. They also expected us to provide wrist bands for people over 21. Again, none of this was communicated to any member of my band until 15 minutes after doors, so money was already lost at that point. We ended up having to hire one of our supporters to man the door, even though they really just wanted to watch us play.
Aside from the mismanaged communication, the sound man was completely uninterested and unprofessional. I love supporting local venues and have never written a negative review (even though we’ve seen some sketchy places in this business), but this experience was enough for me to warn other local bands looking to book.
Added after owners response:
Thanks for your response. All of this information would have been nice to know before doors opened. Where were these communication skills before the show?
Also, security was not provided. Check your facts, please...
Read moreCalled a couple days before the Kings of Thrash show and was told by the guy that tickets would be $20 at the door. Show up the night of the show and they charged $30 at the door. I drove over an hour to get there so I wasn’t, not going to pay the extra money to get in. All night long they were blowing fuses and the power kept going out on all of the bands, yes including K.O.T. They finally unplugged the stage lights, but the power still went out The opening bands played their full sets, but K.O.T. had to cut theirs short by 2-3 songs. I know someone working the show and spoke with band members, so this is absolutely true. Also, Vinny Appice was there checking out the place to maybe play there since he lives close by, but I wouldn’t count on him playing there now. I WOULD LIKE A REFUND PLEASE!!! EDIT Heard from the owner and he offered to refund my $30. It’s been a few days now and he’s just been making excuses why he can’t pay and is just ignoring my messages. My family has had a restaurant / bar for 48 years and I could teach this guy a thing or two about customer service. He doesn’t realize that this negative review is going to cost him much more than $30 once...
