During the hassles at check-in, I should have listened to my gut and found a different hotel. We booked the hotel for an anniversary getaway and ended up going home early because of the terrible stay. Book with caution!
The hotel is conveniently located near the freeway and Old Town Temecula. It is close to shopping and lots of eateries. The offer free parking.
You enter the room into a small living room area with a fridge, microwave, couch and a desk. The TV can be swiveled to see in living room or from the bed. The bedroom area had the bed, one night stand and another small table. The closet was a small wardrobe situated in the corner of the room near the bed. It had two doors, one of which was a full length mirror, but difficult to utilize due to proximity of the bed.
The bathroom is set up in two separate areas. The toilet had a separate area with a little sink. The other area had a countertop with full sink, bathtub/shower. The shower had body soap, shampoo and conditioner.
There is an indoor and outdoor pool, no hot tub. There is also a small gym, business center (no working printer), guest laundry, meeting room, and little market with snacks and drinks.
We arrived at the hotel and check in took over 45 minutes due to a series of bad rooms. We were first given a room on the first floor. When the room was entered, the smell of weed was present. I asked for a new room. Room number 2 was on the third floor. Entered the room to a blast of warm air and a terrible musty odor. The a/c was on and set at 58 degrees, definitely not working. There was no way we could stay comfortably in the hot room during summer. Room number 3 was thankfully better smelling and with a working a/c, so we took it. Little did we know the problems waiting. It was on the freeway side of the hotel and soooo crazy loud.
The room had terrible soundproofing. You could hear hallway conversations and freeway noise, loud and clear. The room faced the pool, on the freeway side of the hotel. Even with a/c and tv on you can still hear cars whizzing by on the freeway.
The TV remote wouldn't allow for us to do anything but turn up the volume and it was stuck on one channel. After multiple attempts to get it to work, I called the front desk and was met with a negative, snarky attitude. The response I received from the front desk person was "aim it at the sensor." DUH! I told her that was definitely tried, she sent maintenance to our room, where it was determined a new remote was necessary.
The bed was quite uncomfortable compared to other Springhill locations. Between the uncomfortable bed and the freeway noise, we had a terrible night of sleep and woke up exhausted.
One of the reasons we booked the hotel was because of the pool area. We planned to spend lots of time enjoying the pool that looked great in hotel photos. We looked at the pool after getting settled in the room and there are no longer any lounge chairs, only tables and chairs. The pool faces the freeway so it's terribly loud. The pool wasnt heated and oh so cold! At 3pm it was fully shaded. Supposedly the indoor pool is heated, but to touch, they felt similar in temperature.
After a terrible first night, we decided it best to cut our stay short and leave the hotel early. I called the front desk and was once again met with a snarky attitude from the worker. She said we would be charged for the night whether or not we stayed. After telling her about the many problems we encountered she put me on hold to discuss with the manager. After a series of questions/answers being relayed from/to the manager, she finally said we could leave without penalty. I still don't understand why the manager didn't speak to me instead of relaying multiple questions through the other worker.
As stated above, book...
Read moreWent to this location the weekend before 4th of July. If I were to ever go back to stay in Temecula, I would never stay at this location. ||1. I got a room from Friday-Sunday but had my younger sister check in since I wouldn’t get there until Saturday. I sent in a CC authorization form so my card was used and not my sisters. They were not able to use it so she used hers. ||On Saturday when I got there, I asked the gentleman to change from the CC my sister used to my Visa but he got confused and was going to charge me for another room. I informed him that we already had a room and just wanted to change CC on file. ||My older sister checked in on Saturday, after I asked the gentleman to change the card on file for the room I had booked that my younger sister checked in on Friday. He took my sisters CC for the room she had book for Saturday. ||I see that I was charged for 2 rooms. The room that I had booked for 2 nights and I figured the other charge was the new room he was accidentally booking me when I was changing the CC that day, but when I spoke to my sister about this issue she looked at her Visa statement and she had not been charged. She sends me her invoice statement and they had charged my card when I had NOT authorized that. ||She booked with her visa because she was going to get cash back from a promo she had gotten and now because of that she is not and I will not get my discount on the room I booked either (the 2 night stay one under my name). ||Then there was also an issue with the room my older sister booked. The AC was not working. I went and spoke to a manager and she didn’t seem like she wanted to help much. She sends the maintenance guy to try and fix it and he was unable to. I then I go and ask if we can just get switched to another room and she said “I don’t think we have another room so he will have to fix it” I asked if she can check and she again says “sorry we are going to have to try and fix it”. The maintenance guy then removes the unit from our room and exchanges it with the meeting room unit next to our room. He turns it on and it started making a loud noise. I go and talk to the manager again and ask to be switched since we were already hot and frustrated. She again said she couldn’t and went to talk to the maintenance guy. She was asking him what was happening and he said it wasn’t working. She kept insisting he keep trying. He then said if it was below a certain degree it would make noise and to not mess with the AC unit because if it went below a certain degree it would freeze the unit. The unit stopped making noise and I asked her what could be done if it happened again and that’s when she said they would see what they could do. Once they stepped out, the unit started making the noise and I opened the door and called her back over and told her it was not working again. She then said “of course it would happen when we step out”. She then went and looked for another room for us to go to. Had she done that from the beginning like I had asked we could have avoided wasting time but again she didn’t not seem like she wanted to help and everyone in the room was annoyed and we could tell by the managers mannerism her unwillingness to help. Her name is Marie P. ||I also noticed stains on the walls. ||I called and emailed Marriott and someone named Pamela Bradley emailed back but when I replied to the email I got a kick back. Not like the email said do not reply to this email. She said she would get back to me the day after the email but I have not heard back. ||HORRIBLE customer service. I have called my bank to dispute the charges because again I DID NOT AUTHORIZE the charges to...
Read moreWish I could have had the same positive experience as some others on this site. This location sadly ruins the Springhill Suites reputation. Overall the hotel looks run down. Walls peeling, caulk coming off sinks, hard water stains on sinks, dirty carpets, stained couches in the room and in the lounge, unwelcoming staff, and roaches in the pool. We have stayed at Springhill Suites before and hoped to have a great stay like before.
On arrival the person at check in desk was nice enough, but didn't even bother to show us a map or offer one to help us find our room. I went ahead of my family to scope out our room and found badly stained carpets and couch. The beds, bathroom and towels looked clean though so I decided to stay the night vs ruining our entire trip. I had to tell the kids to not go barefoot on that gross carpet though.
Breakfast was as expected though crowded. We headed off to our planned destination and returned in the afternoon. The kids knew there was a pool so we headed down about 4 in the afternoon. Unfortunately the pool is located where the building blocks the sun in the afternoon, hence a freezing pool. It was still pretty mellow so I let the kids swim. Soon after the group that was occupying the 2-3 tables around the pool decided they would blast their non-kid appropriate music through very loud speakers.
More kids came to the pool area. It was a very busy weekend for this hotel I guess and it became too rowdy for my smaller kids to be in the outdoor pool. Plus they were shivering from the freezing cold water so we decided to try the heated indoor pool. I almost wished I could take it back - but my kids were in the water already. It was warm, but I could see this pool was not taken care of either. The pool had that brown stain on the bottom like pools look when they haven't been taken care of or scrubbed for a while. I think they compensated with bleach to think it's clean. Same rowdy kids from outdoor pool decided to take over the indoor pool so it was time to go. We spent a quiet night outside of the hotel for dinner.
The next morning we had promised the kids more pool time outside since they didn't get much time the day before. They were super disappointed not to get their pool day as I found roaches floating in the pool! The staff seemed to somewhat clean up the area from the previous day's party, but left all the trash there from the night before.
Stay away from this...
