Back East Bagels — Restaurant in Tempe

First I must say that the bagels are edible. Nothing special, but better than kokobellies and Einsteins. Since those two bagel establishments are vile and disgusting. Now to the matter of hand. I have been there on four separate occasions within a couple of months. All at different times. Each time they are out of bagels. My first visit was 15 minutes after the place opened. They were out of bagels. My last visit was around 10:00 a.m. There were 10 people in line. They only had about 20 bagels for sale. I asked the girl behind the counter if they were going to make more bagels and she said no. They're supposed to be open till 1:00 in the afternoon. I guess when they run out of bagels the employees can nail up more license plates. What a joke.The way I see it the owner is losing on a couple hundred dollars a day at least. I won't be returning. In fact my quest for good bagels in the entire State of Arizona has come to a pitiful end. I will pay the extra freight for my bagel order and have them shipped from Western bagels in the San Fernando valley Los Angeles. A three day old bagel Western bagel brought back to life in a microwave is far superior than one of your bagels out of the oven. One more thing I noticed that the T-shirt section as more room in the display than the display that holds the bagels that is incomprehensible. Why would I want to buy a t-shirt to promote such a substandard establishment. Don't let me get started on the cream cheese. I never had a cream cheese that poured out of the container. To start off if I could put no stars I would. Me and my boyfriend have seen this bagel place on multiple occasions and decided that today would be the day we give it a try. I love to support locally/independently owned businesses. We ordered 2 breakfast bagel sandwiches, 2 coffee drinks (1 hot hazelnut latte, 1 blended vanilla mocha coffee), and chocolate chip cookies. When our order was ready, they called us over and I noticed they had put 2 hot coffees there on the counter. I mentioned to the girl who placed our drinks there (& who seemed to be in charge of the drinks ordered - I didn't catch her name but she was wearing a purple shirt) that I had ordered a BLENDED vanilla mocha, not a hot one. And all she did was turn around and pull a ticket and tell me that the ticket says 2 hot coffees. Well, obviously the girl who took our order got it wrong because I specifically asked for a blended drink. Sadly, this lady did nothing to correct the issue. No, explanation as to why she wouldn't correct it. I even mentioned to her that the cashier put our order in wrong and she just turned around and said nothing more. So, as I mentioned before this was our very first time into this establishment and to have such a bad experience really left us with not wanting to come back here ever again!! Customer service...

I contacted numerous bagel shops to find a bagel shop where I could get one dozen bagels that are toasted. This shop said they could toast all 12 bagels but it would cost me $5. I went out of my way to come to this shop on the way to work to get my TOASTED bagels for my birthday to bring the _@&#&$ work. Of course I'm not that stupid I checked those bagels in the bag in the car. Were they toasted? No they were not toasted AT ALL some of them were warmed, some not even. Not one of them was actually toasted! I go back in and take a bagel out and ask them if that looks toasted? The lady tells me that's what their toaster does it doesn't really toast it doesn't get that hot. Would you like me to run them through for you again? I am already giving myself just enough time to get these bagels and get to work. And now I'm pretty pissed off that they charge me $5 and didn't even tell me that the bagels wouldn't really be toasted at all even though they knew that the bagels wouldn't really be toasted at all!! @#&#&#&. And want to charge me $5 for that. So what, I have you running back through you NOT TOASTER so they can be warmed again???? Unbelievable absolutely unbelievable.
